There are reports that the ISU plans to do a Live Stream of World Cup 1 at the following link: livemanager.eurovision.edgesuite.net/isu/site/index.html

(Keep in mind that they may only intend to broadcast the medal rounds, and it may not be available in all countries.)

Tony Chung has started a Live Blog. It looks like it's working well, and he's far better able to post heat-by-heat updates in that format than I'm able to here - so here's the link:

Tony Chung has confirmed that he is unable to do a Live Stream from an ISU-controlled event - not his fault, ISU just doesn't allow it. If he's Tweeting, here's the link:

The ISU will no doubt be posting results via the infamous 'blinking numbers’ (a live data feed), which has been our back-up for many years. When they’re actively racing, you’ll see a red, clickable “LIVE” button in the menu bar at the following link:

Yeah, those are GREAT prices! My current plan is to drive it, so it won't benefit me, but hopefully it'll push some other peeps over the edge!

I'll add this though - whilst checking out the sale, I realized that Larry & I had made a HUGE mistake on another Southwest reservation that we booked. We had a couple of award tickets in our account - but somehow we neglected to use the one that expires first. Instead, we used one that doesn't expire 'till next year - stupid, stupid, STUPID!!!

I was thinking that maybe I'd have to abort the plan to drive to SLC just so I could use that ticket - what a freakin' waste...

But SWA was awesome (as usual) - they swapped it out for us, "NO PROBLEM".

I've never been to Utah Olympic Oval so I have a question about the seating. With the seats that come with the general admission ticket, will I get a good view? And do you guys have any idea about how many people will come and see the games? It won't be too crowded, right?

Hi, SOYA - In my opinion, the seating area is so small that there's really no 'bad' seat. You're always gonna be close to the action. If you make it a point to get there early, you should have no trouble getting a good choice of seats. We usually like to sit at the short track equivalent of the '20-yard line', but it's personal preference. If you get there early, you can watch warm-ups, which are very entertaining - especially if you haven't been to many competitions.

If any of our other members has something to add to this advice, please do!

It's not that cold in the Oval. I remember being surprised that you don't really need to bundle up very much. Besides, the jumping and yelling keep ya warm and you may even lose weight!

According to member dose's posts yesterday on "The Rest of the Short Track World" board, other known participants are Russia, Japan, Italy, France and Canada.

I also know that Great Britain will be there. As will Switzerland.

If I recall, China will not be there (unless something has changed). EDIT: China IS participating!

I'm expecting Korea, but I haven't seen anything definitively. Other 'usual' participants are Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia - can y'all think of any others who are almost ALWAYS there?

The ISU site isn't showing Entries just yet, but you may be seeing something there around mid-week next week.

In past years, Tony Chung has NOT been able to stream video from an ISU event - I don't know what made me think (hope) that this year would be different...

As usual, Tony is unable to stream from an ISU-controlled event, so we're on our own, folks.

In the past, we've (sometimes) been able to get links to Chinese coverage via our faithful member, dose - but if China isn't competing, that glimmer of hope is doubtful.

So... it's prolly back to the 'blinking numbers' for us: As always, this thread will be open for chat as we follow the ISU data feed:

I'll be attending the event, and I don't have a Smart Phone (COMING SOON, however), so I won't be able to directly post online updates. UPDATE: I'm expecting to have wireless internet access - cross your fingers!

HOWEVER, I'm actively looking for some reliable options - even if I have to arrange a Phone-A-Friend who can 'fill in the gaps' here at BB! (It's a bit archaic, but it's been done in the past!)

Other options are Great Britain and Korea coverage - our member therockfairy from GBR sometimes reports on details that we can't see... and both dose and therockfairy have been 'pitbulls' in helping us try to lock into their Chinese/GBR feeds!
