Here are some suggestions for those who are coming to SLC... Park City is great if anyone has time to get up there! There's always something going on and they have some great restaurants around town. I took a tram ride up Snowbird once in the fall, and the leaves were just turning vibrant so it was awesome! One piece of advice is to avoid being out too late if you're in close proximity to West Valley... I'll leave it at that. It's just not that safe! Some other things around SLC/ the Oval... The Gateway (for those who wanna shop), lots of shops, restaurants, etc in and around Murray/S or W Jordan, Sandy. A popular little eatery is Cafe Zupa's. I don't know if it's just a Utah chain or nationwide (?) but here's the link: www.zupas.com/index.php/cafe-zupas-locations/Temple Square is awesome! If you want a unique view of Temple Square and just a nice atmosphere, there is a good restaurant called "The Garden Restaurant" atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Here's the link: www.templesquarehospitality.com/restaurants/garden.phpAnother good place to grab a bite is The Blue Lemon (on S Temple): www.bluelemon.com/menu/sides-and-startersHope that helps anyone out!?! There are numerous good places to see and eat at around SLC, these are just a few. OH! Just remember though, that there are quite a few places NOT open on Sunday, so keep that in mind when venturing out.

Wildfire... thanks for the restaurant recommendations! Just last night I was looking at a brochure of the choices at Temple Square that I picked up last Dec., and the Garden Restaurant interested me. Also, Cafe Zupas has a location right at Jordan Landing... we'll have to try that for sure! One handy thing if anyone goes downtown. If you are parked at The Gateway center (or anywhere downtown), you can ride the TRAX train *free* to Temple Square b/c the downtown area is in the "FREE ZONE". Pick up a route map of the UTA system at your hotel, or you can print it out online: www.rideuta.com/It's not far to walk from Gateway Center to Temple Square, but the free TRAX is an alternative. And many of the downtown hotels are not far from the TRAX-train line. I plan to go to Park City when we go back to the Oval for the US Championship races in January; it's a fun place to visit... and I hope to ski there, as well as at Brighton after the races are over. We're looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

If I recall, China will not be there (unless something has changed) I'm expecting Korea, but I haven't seen anything definitively. China will participate. I think Korea will participate, because I saw a korea player post a message about a match, however the recent match is the World Cup 1. Will you go to watch the WC1 on live? That is to say, you aren't at the forum at races time?

Where did you see the post about Korea? I would really love to go see WC 1, but my sister won't take me there if Korea doesn't come

@dose: Yes, I'll be in SLC - but I'm sure that y'all will get along just fine without me! I'm checking to see if there's wireless internet inside the rink. If so, I'll do some updates during the racing, and answer any questions that arise as you all watch the 'blinking numbers'. If I can't get a wireless connection, I'll check in each evening after the racing! gdbaby77 - Do you live within driving distance? Surely they'll be posting the entries no later than Thursday night - hopefully that'll be enough time for you to get there... I hope you can go!

gdbaby77... Ha - I'm driving from the L.A. area too! It's a long way, but definitely do-able on short notice. I'm leaving on either Tues or Wed to spend some time beforehand with my brother who lives in the area. If you make it there, I'm a middle-aged lady with blonde (my friends/hubby says 'grey-ing') hair, and our group will be sitting in the fan hospitality area. I may be wearing a Navy 'Rocker-U' sweatshirt, and we'll most definitely be waving USA flags! If you come, PLEASE try to find us and say 'hello'! yvesyang: I hope to meet you there also!

We're also driving... from Northern San Diego county. We leave Tuesday morning, stopping to see the new bridge down-river from Hoover dam. We'll spend the night in Vegas... and leave for Utah Wed. morning and arrive in Murray, Utah, spending the night at the Pavilion Inn. We move over to Hampton Inn on Thursday for 4 night. We'll be picking Mari up at the SLC airport Thursday night.
In the past, we have driven to SLC in one day (12-hour drive from home) but we like to take it a little slower nowadays in our old-age. LOL

Actually you are in different city! I thought too simple about that you go to watch the match. Also need to drive several hours from different city! I really admire you! I wish you have a pleasant journey! Do you have Live TV about home match? I saw CCTV5 list on Oct 21-23, it doesn't have the Worlc Cup 1!

One question:Should I buy the tickets now? Or can I get them there? I removed an earlier response, 'cause I thought better of it. If you're coming from out of town - either by a long drive, or by air, you might want to purchase in advance, 'cause I HAVE seen the Saturday/Sunday night sessions sell out - and those are the ones you're not gonna wanna miss. I know that fact is annoying as a fan, but trust me, it's a GOOD thing for the sport - I'm looking forward to the day that USS has to add more bleachers!
