Well, it's down to the relay for the men - we can't catch Canada. We're third now, 6 points behind Japan. If my math is correct, we have to finish first or second in the relay AND we have to finish ahead of Japan in order to get to the 'A' round...

I take that back - I think the men have to WIN the relay. If we finish second, Japan would have to incur a PEN for us to qualify.

Based on the times on the ISU homepage, looks like they may be doing an ice resurface before the relays - but they're running behind schedule...

The ladies are racing now, but the LIVE button isn't working for me - as an alternative, you can go to the page where they show the lineups for the heats and click the [splits] link - you'll have to refresh the page manually.

thanks Laurie...I forgot about the splits...this is so frustrating! But my muffins didn't burn. Who got 1st and second in the men's 3000?

THE LADIES CAME IN SECOND IN THE RELAY! This puts them second overall, and they qualify for the A Final Round tomorrow!
Now it's nail-biting time for the men - they really need to WIN...

2nd place...looks like it must have been a great race with our boys skating strong.... Yup, it looked oh-so-close! I'm sad for our guys, but I'll be pulling for Japan tomorrow - they could use some happy news right about now.

I haven't paid attention to Japan all season...am I late to the game in realizing their strength?

I too am happy that Japan is racing well...it must be so hard to keep on going when such catastrophe is happening at home. Good for them.. Hopefully by tomorrow, they'll get the ISU results page fixed! Have a great day everyone! MM
