were the only U.S. women to make it to this round, but neither advanced to the A final.
However they do advance to the B final


Men's 500m (1) semi final

Ryan Bedford

was the only U.S. skater to make it to this round. Charles Hamelin of Canada incurred a penalty, but there is no indication that anyone was advanced because of it.

Actually, I DID go to bed with the intention of sleeping through this one, but I woke up somewhere in the middle of it to hack and wheeze, and couldn't go back to sleep. So I checked in on what the scoop was...and as you can see, I stayed up for the rest.
