Oops! Thanks for the rescue on the link, BBB - I guess I got in too big a hurry! I hope you don't mind, but I modified your link so that it would be clickable, rather than a copy & paste. If you click the 'insert hyperlink' button above (the button that looks like the earth) - and then put your link between the tags, it'll work. I've found that I always have to take this extra step with an https link. Another "Thank You", BBB, about the World Championship selection process info - you always come through! ;D I had to do a double-take! I was like 'it worked this time?' lol. Had no clue about the https. I'll try to remember that next time. :] You're welcome, Lori. I know you're probably pretty busy over there. Side Note: Yay, bb Cho! Kicking butt so far. Nice job, Adam & Barry!

No, he made the Top 16! ;D I'm off to the Oval now - warmups start at 9am, with racing scheduled from 10am till about 2pm. Today is the 1500M and the 500M - check the OP (Original Post) for all your links to live coverage/Tweets, etc. Later!

Can someone bring me up to speed with what's happening with Katherine? I was surprised to see her in fifth place in the overall standings after today. She's had a great season.

Links to results thus far: USS - webpoint.usspeedskating.org/files/Event_PDFs/1919_Event_OtherDoc4.pdfTony Chung - docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkKaRsNHioRqdEFsRTFfRDhybzkyd0VCWDdlTFBELWc#gid=38according to Kyle Uyeharra on his twitter he sustained a cervical strain and spent some time at the hospital today and Kyle Carr is battling Bronchitis and a fever.Get well soon Kyle Uyehara fell in the 1500M B Final along with Robert Lawrence and Adam Callister. There were no PEN's called, so we're assuming it was just 'bad ice' or something. All of the skaters finished the race, but Robert seemed (at the time) to have gotten the worst of it. Both Kyle and Robert were DNS's in the 500M, which worried us. Word around the rink was that Kyle had been taken to the hospital via stretcher/ambulance, and Robert had been diagnosed with a mild concussion. We saw Kyle in the hotel lobby tonight - he looked good under the circumstances, and was hoping he'd be able to skate tomorrow. We heard that Robert did not need hospitalization, but was NOT cleared to skate (a precautionary measure after a concussion). In other 'injury' news, World Cup 1 skater Sarah Chen got into a tangle with another skater in the last corner of the 1500M B Final. The other skater got a PEN and Sarah finished the race - but she was injured enough that she did an intentional DQ at the start of the 500M (just as J.R. did in his 9LTT). Kyle Carr's showing a great attitude under crappy circumstances. He's sick, and it shows when you see him off the ice - to the point where you don't want to breathe the same air . He's pushing through it as best he can, and you can't help but pull for the guy - KUDOS, Kyle! Congrats to those who made the podium today: 1500M Ladies: 1) Lana Gehring 2) Emily Scott 3) Alyson Dudek 1500M Men: 1) John-Henry Krueger 2) Simon Cho 3) Travis Jayner 500M Ladies: 1) Lana Gehring 2) Alyson Dudek 3) Emily Scott 500M Men: 1) Simon Cho 2) Jordan Malone 3) Travis Jayner ----------------------------------- Tomorrow has the same schedule as today - warmups at 9am, racing from 10am 'till about 2pm (MST). The following article gives some insight into the injuries that Katherine has been dealing with... m.sltrib.com/sltrib/mobile/53252419-77/reutter-meters-1500-final.html.cspIt's pretty remarkable how she's 'pushed through the pain' to accomplish what she's done in the World Cups!

Thanks for the update, Lori. I'm sure it's a disappointment for her not to be in top form this weekend.
It's nice to see Simon, Travis, and Jordan all performing well. Kimberly Derrick is hanging in there as well.
How's the weather out there this weekend? We still have flowers in bloom here in the mid-Atlantic. It's been an unusually mild winter thus far.

Well, other than this morning's snow - which struck due fear into my warm-weather-driver heart - the weather has been cold but glorious! The full moon over SLC tonight was magical!

Does that mean that Katherine is out of it entirely in terms of the World Champs? What's the thinking there -- is Coach Jae trying to give her a chance to rest and recuperate? I'm rather at a loss as to why J.R. would get a bye and Katherine wouldn't.
ETA -- Nevermind, I see that she's decided to proceed with needed surgery ASAP. I think it's a good call on her part.
BTW, did you enjoy your weekend, Lori? How was the event? What were your impressions?

Yes, Susie - I see that you read the article that mentioned Katherine's upcoming hip surgeries. It kills her to sit out the winter racing, but it'll give her maximum time to heal and be at her best next season! I'll post that article (and other info) when I get home. I'm leaving SLC in the early a.m. for the 11-hour drive to L.A. I'll catch up with y'all about the weekend when I recover (hopefully tomorrow night)!?! USS Complete Results: webpoint.usspeedskating.org/files/Event_PDFs/1919_Event_OtherDoc5.pdf G'night!
