@dose it seems like there is some dirty politics going on with Ahn as an entry I don't get all the rules but maybe later we will find something out.
too bad they don't repechage the relays

I doubt there are any dirty politics, but I would imagine there are some who would be unhappy that he was granted citizenship to skate for Russia in the first place - such as any skater who doesn't make the team...  I could be mistaken, but I think that each country makes their own rules about who is eligible to represent their country in ISU competitions. ISU doesn't seem to have any dictates about it, other than that they have to meet certain minimum proficiency criteria on the ice, and they can only enter via ISU member countries (i.e., they can't enter as individuals). It has been said for months that Ahn would start skating for Russia this year. He has Russian citizenship, so there's no reason he wouldn't be there - unless he was injured or something. As far as Ahn's inclusion on the list, the Regs say that the names of the participating skaters and substitute skaters must be provided by 6pm two days before the first event in the competition. Maybe he was a sub? |
