He did get up and hopefully he's okay. I heard Tomasso Dotti's name said by the announcer afterwards but everything else was in Italian so I'm not sure what he said exactly.
A yellow card means that the Hungarian relay team gets no points for this world cup which will make qualifying a relay team for the games very challenging since there are so many teams entered.

In the replay, it looked like Tommy Dotti was the Italian skater that got hurt. sk8erfan, I heard that announcement too (wish I knew Italian). I did hear people clapping - I hope that means he wasn't seriously hurt!

Tommy's not in the lineup for the A Final, and they just said something else about him (in Italian). A Final is underway!

Wow, what a battle between Canada, Russia & Netherlands in those last laps. Netherlands spun out, and I thought Italy may have sneaked in for the bronze, but NED hung on. USA fell, and finished 5th.

So excited for Canada! I honestly think that I'm more nervous watching the races then the skaters are racing them!
It's a shame that the US fell. They recovered really well from the first fall and were right in it until they went down again. Hopefully next weekend will go better for them.
I'm so impressed by Charles Hamelin. He made every final, skated in every single race he could AND came home with 3 GOLD medals! Also, I'm loving the teams mustaches. Everyone on the team is growing them and Charle Cournoyer doesn't appear have a trace of facial hair.

sk8erfan - yes, most definitely impressed with the Canadians, and as I said upthread, Charles Hamelin is a BEAST! I recall posting an interview after the first 2 World Cups where he said he hadn't peaked yet. (Lord help the rest of the ST world! ) Question: How old is Charles Cournoyer? What a talent! He looks like a teen...

I recall posting an interview after the first 2 World Cups where he said he hadn't peaked yet. (Lord help the rest of the ST world! ) Question: How old is Charles Cournoyer? What a talent! He looks like a teen... Charle is 22 years old and he definitely is a rising star. It's nice to see such an impressive young skater given the fact that most of Canada's national team will probably be retiring in the next couple years. Prior to making the Olympic team in impressive fashion he had only been to 5 world cups, where he won 2 individual medals and 1 world championships where he skated in the final to help Canada to a gold medal in the relay. He also has an older brother, Vincent, on the national team. The next Hamelin brothers perhaps?
