Some unusual occurrences in the Men's Relays. In the B Final, France was DQ'd for missing equipment - the equipment he was lacking? His transponder! I guess that explains the missing lap counts for France on the Live Feed. And up until now, I didn't realize that the skaters carried transponders (though how else would we know their .001 times for each lap, lol!) In addition, there was an unorthodox lineup for Team USA in the A Final - according to Tony, it was Travis Jayner, Kyle Carr and Jeff Simon for fully half of the relay, then Simon Cho was inserted as a 4th skater midway. HUH? ...maybe Simon misplaced his transponder.

thanks for link to on-line streaming Lori, finally figured it out today and got to watch all the medal rounds..Congrats to Katherine, Travis, Women's and Men's relays for well deserved medals today! Happy also for Michael Gilday and Flou for their wins for Canada. Great to see other countries like France, Italy, and Netherlands doing so well and becoming real contenders. The more competition the better...of course when the Koreans are back, it will be a new ballgame but these first 2 world cups gave everyone else a chance to get some momentum and confidence.. great skating by the newcomers on both the US and Canadian teams...The years leading up to Socci will be fun to watch who emerges as the new stars...and forgive my ignorance, but where is JR Celski this season of world cup...? and is it true that Katherine will have to have surgery on her other hip as well? Anyway, great to be here with you all. Hope your sewing went well Mntme...I"d have sewn two pant legs together while watching the relays! HAPPY HALLOWEEN ALL! Musical Mom ( Karen )

Lori, looks like the men's relay team tried the Canadian 'COBRA" STRATEGY used in the Olympics when they rested Francoise Louis Tremblay for 1/2 of the laps so he could come in at the end with fresh legs...didn't appear to work that well for us....had the Chinese not slipped at the end, we'd have likely come in 3rd if not overtaken by the Italians....wow....but it's early in the WCup season and guess they're trying out all kinds of combinations....still wish we could start a campaign to require safety pads for all international competitions...these injuries should have been prevented! Here's a TREAT for Lori. In case we haven't done so in awhile; thanks for keeping things current at B 'n B. When I cannot watch the flashing numbers, I come here first for info, THEN all of the other stops!

OOPS ! I got the names of the ladies who competed in the Relay Final wrong in my Wrap-Up summary on the Results page: therockerforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=live&action=display&thread=691I had incorrectly assumed that Morgan Izykowski had not been entered, but she DID skate in the Final and received a bronze medal along with the rest of the team. The correction has been made - congratulations (and my apologies) to Morgan! I've taken a day or so to enjoy Halloween (and the cleanup from Halloween) and to get caught up with my family life. There are quite a few articles/pics from the recent World Cups in my inbox, and I'll try to get the links posted this week before AmCup 2 starts! Oh, and to Gasp: Thanks for the 'thanks' - my pleasure!
