Thanks, Lori, for posting these photos of the jockeying for position and drama at the finish line of the Men's 1500m (1) on Day 2!
For sheer excitement, the OT's are about as good as it gets.

Here's a recap of the Men's 1500m (2) on Day 3 with slightly differing results from the first 1500m. As could be expected, the lead changed many times. But first, here's an excerpt from Tony's Blog, Updated September 12, 2009 (I think he meant to refer to it as the 1500m (2), which would be consistent with the lineup on the US Speedskating site): "Apolo maybe 27 years old, but he still has what it takes to take out the young skaters! . . . [In the 1500m (2)], Ohno came in 1st, then Celski, Jeff Simon, Simon Cho, and Robert Lawrence. Ryan Bedford was disqualified for impeding against Jeff Simon in the last lap, and Jordan Malone was disqualified for cross-tracking against Bedford at the line. [In the Men’s 1000m (1)], it was Ohno, Jayner, Celski, Malone and Lobello." Caption anyone? This is where Jordan Malone was disqualified for cross-tracking against Ryan Bedford at the line. Ryan running smack into Jordan. Same shot from the front courtesy of Jerry Search at www.nationalspeedskatingmuseum.org/Photo%20Albums...Albums.htmThis is probably where Ryan Bedford was disqualified for impeding Jeff Simon. Same shot from the front courtesy of Jerry Search. Dropping like flies at the finish line. Apolo double pumping! Front side of the same shot courtesy of Jerry Search.

Its so cool the way you pair your pics with Tony's blog - very unique idea! --------------------------------------- Following through on a request from Gasp on Katherine Reutter's thread: One of my favorite "visuals" from Marquette was when the #1, #2, and #3 men seeds were on the ice together. During one of their races as they hit the apex of a turn they were skating in order: #1 J.R. #2 Apolo #3 Jordan. It was such a cool shot. Wish I could do what goodtimes does. Her pics are awesome! Does anybody have a pic of that?I did see one by Jerry Search that fits the bill - the 1500M#1 Final on Day 2: Though at this time, #2 was Jordan and #3 was Apolo, not the other way around. In this pic, they are in numerical order... #1 - JR; #2 - Jordan; #3 Apolo. Is this the one you're thinking of? EDIT: Gasp - DUH! *smacking my head* After my post to you above, I realized that a beautiful photo of the 1-2-3 you described is just above in Goodtimes' series on Day 3's 1500M#2: You're right - in THIS race, Apolo was #2 and Jordan was #3, just as you remembered!

...and man the ultimate short track TRIFECTA:
Tony's blog Jerry Search's pics from one angle and Goodtimes pics from another angle
It's like being there all over again --- minus the Saturday night mishap for J.R.
