I thought it made sense to start a thread of news items from USS sent out by Peri. That way, all updates can be posted here, instead of starting an individual thread for each news items, (unless it's warranted) that will see a few posts, and never be talked about again.
And this one is exciting news on both fronts. Thomas Di Nardo of Bella Faccie Sports Media will be taking the photos this year of the events, - and this is waaaaayyyy cool, there will be a book that comes out of this years competitive season. Now THAT is some VERY good news!
Sadly, I may now decide to refrain from treating you to all my extremely blurry 'try and name that skater' photos. (Yes, I know you're just heartbroken about that...) ___________________________________________________________________ Dear US Speedskating Members, US Speedskating is pleased to announce Thomas Di Nardo (Snohomish, WA) has been named the official team photographer for the US Speedskating National Short Track and Long Track Training Programs for the 2009-2010 season. Di Nardo founded Bella Faccie Sports Media in 2007, a professional photojournalistic website displaying unique imagery captured at sporting events. "I'm really honored to have an opportunity to work with the team and develop images that convey the effort that each athlete is putting forth to represent the country at the Olympic Games," he says. As a former motorcycle racer and speedskater, Di Nardo likes to capture the emotion and passion found in sports-action photography. He's been shooting photographs for more than 20 years and is excited to follow the team through the Olympic Games. His two children are young speedskaters currently training with Chang Ho Lee, pursuing their own speedskating paths. Di Nardo's photography will be used to highlight a US Speedskating photo-documentary book detailing the speedskating events during the 2009-2010 season-from training camps to the Olympic Games. The hardbound book will be a collector's item available in the spring of 2010. "US Speedskating is excited to be working with such a talented photographer," says Peri Kinder, US Speedskating Media/Communications Director. "His images will catch all the behind-the-scenes moments the public rarely gets to see. He will be a great asset to our team." Di Nardo's images are available for purchase at www.bellafaccie.com with a portion of all sales of the US Speedskating images going to support the US Speedskating Olympic Teams.

I didn't realize that Peri had a blog - I read a couple of the most recent entries and was quite entertained! Life and Laughterperikinder.com/
