Uh-Oh...
Looks like Thomas fell early on (Lap 2) - he was still showing lap times - slow ones - up until Lap 7, then it stopped, and he's listed as a Did Not Finish.
Because he fell so early, the pack may have had the opportunity to lap him twice, which would mean the officials would call him to center ice and not allow him to finish. I'm hoping that's what happened, and that he isn't hurt...

Noooooooooo!  Sarah was in 1st place in the C Final with 1 lap to go, then suddenly she finished 4th, about 12 seconds back. She must have fallen at the end - no penalties, so the results will stand. Sarah ended up finishing 11th overall - her Glen Ellyn Speed Skating Club is reporting that her time in the Quarterfinals (1:40.397) was a personal best!
Sadly, Thomas' DNF in the semifinals meant that we didn't see him in any of the finals - however, he still ended up 8th overall.
Tomorrow is the 500M - good luck to both Thomas and Sarah (and let's hope Thomas wasn't injured today)...

A much better day for Sarah & Thomas in the 500M - no falls, and a good showing for both!
Sarah won her Quarterfinal AND the B Final, finishing 4th overall for the distance.

Today's relay semifinals are over - the finals will start at 1:40pm Eastern, 10:40am Pacific.
Each team is composed of 2 Ladies and 2 Men from different countries. The teams were formed based on the overall individual ranking of two individual distances (500 and 1000m) obtained at the YOG. A Lady will start the race, relay over to a Man, then a Lady and back to a Man. The fastest 2 teams from each heat will go through to the Final A and the others to the Final B.
Thomas Hong's team included:
Sumire Kukuchi (Japan)
Chang Yin-Cheng (Taipei)
Elisabeth Witt (Germany)
They ended up 4th, and will be in the B Final - as I watched the laps, it seemed that every few laps, one skater brought them back to less than a second behind - 'hoping that skater was Thomas!
Sarah Warren's teammates were:
Kei Saito (Japan)
Lin Yu-Tzu (Taipei)
Josse Antonissen (Netherlands)
This team also finished 4th, and will be in the B Final later today.

In the mixed relay B Final, Thomas Hong's team WON, and Sarah Warren's team finished third.
