The duck.
My teenaged nephew some months ago came home from Chinatown with a duckling, which I'm sure was more meant for 'culinary' purposes.
said duck is now the size of a Christmas Goose, but is still a soft buttercream yellow more than white, and has just started laying eggs.
Since we are the only 'mother' it's ever known, it is quite the charming little pet, likes to be cuddled, is a very social creature, honks when you try to leave, and waddles after you in protest - quaking the whole way. (Think ET, as to the slapping of feet on tile and the general 'walk')
She now spends time in the backyard, but in the evenings, they let her come in the kitchen for some love. She was honking away a few minutes ago, which was my cue to go down and say 'hi'. She really is quite the sweetheart...as unusual pets go...
