This thread will be used for discussion and trip-planning for World Cup 2 - Saguenay, Canada (October 28-30, 2011).
Discuss any topics related to this event - trip-planning, pre-competition, post-competition, and 'Game Day' chat!
Before making travel arrangements, double-check with USS and ISU official schedules.
For those who are planning to attend the event, pertinent information gathered here - as it becomes available - will be summarized IN THIS ORIGINAL POST (scroll down) for quick-reference.
Please share any info that will be of help those who will be attending the event and/or following along online!-------------------------------- KNOWN INFO:MEDIA LINKS; TV COVERAGE; WEBCASTS, LIVE FAN CHAT, ETC.:ISU live video coverage of the medal rounds: livemanager.eurovision.edgesuite.net/isu/site/index.htmlKeep in mind that this will likely be only the medal rounds (the evening sessions on Saturday & Sunday), and it may not be available in all countries. Tony Chung is not able to Live Stream from ISU events, so he has started a Live Blog. He'll be in Saguenay for World Cup 2 - last week it looked like it worked quite well, and if he's posting, it'll be your best bet for Friday's prelims and the Repechages. Here's the link: www.shorttrackhd.com/2011WC1SLC.htmlISU will no doubt be posting results via the infamous 'blinking numbers’ (a live data feed), which has been our back-up for many years. When they’re actively racing, you’ll see a red, clickable “ LIVE” button in the menu bar at the following link: www.sportresult.com/federations/ISU/ShortTrack/?evt=11212100000002As always, chat will be open here at BB along with whatever other feed is available! We'll be using this same World Cup thread. Stay tuned, because our 'international operatives' sometimes post links that are workable for us - and if not, they'll often post their impressions from what they're seeing online in their home countries. The 3 links above should have ya' covered! ;D LINKS TO WATCH FOR MORE INFO:PARTICIPATING SKATERS:USA will not be participating in World Cup 2!ISU has the starting lineups posted for Friday's prelims at the following link: www.sportresult.com/federations/ISU/ShortTrack/?evt=11212100000002EVENT SCHEDULE AND TIME ZONE CONVERSIONS:Saguenay is in the Eastern Time Zone - Friday's prelims start at 9:50am local (Eastern) time; which would be 8:50am Central; 7:50am Mountain; 6:50am Pacific. Saturday's Repechages are scheduled for 9AM Eastern / 6am Pacific, and the Medal Rounds start at 1PM Eastern / 10am Pacific. I mentioned on the ST Schedule thread that USA will not be attending World Cup 2, and I had heard it was because of funding. I'm hearing now that it may NOT be a funding issue - but I don't know what it IS... At any rate, it seems certain that they will not be there. I wonder if some of them will be skating at American Cup 2 (same weekend) There are also rumors that Korea, Japan and Italy will not be attending either, for various reasons - not sure how true it is... 'Anybody know more about this?

Maybe the WC2 and AC2 are same of dates, so US team can't attend the WC2? Japan and Italy will not be attending either? They also announced the World Cups' athletes lists at least first two stations, were not they? About Korea, I don't know. At present there are no messages.

Your posts earlier this week DID note World Cup 2 for both Japan and Italy... This was just something that came up in conversation - certainly nothing official. Oh, well - I guess we'll know for sure in a couple of weeks!

The lineups are posted on the ISU link: www.sportresult.com/federations/ISU/ShortTrack/?evt=11212100000002Italy, Japan AND Korea are there - 'shows you what I know, haha! 'Better check my sources more diligently next time! I'm glad that they're there! Tony Chung's in Canada, so he'll be blogging about the Prelims and the Repechages. Last week, ISU only streamed the Medal Rounds, so Tony's blog will be just what we need for the early rounds. We'll always have the ISU 'blinking numbers'! Check the Original Post on this thread for links to all of the above!

They're running the 500m twice this time around, which should look very sweet for Marianne St-Gelais and the home crowd.
@dose, you may be right... maybe the host country can choose the distance they want to race twice, haha!
Even though USA isn't competing, there are some international skaters who I like very much and I seem to have 'bonded' with, for both rational and irrational reasons. It's a dynamic, ever-expanding universe - and I'm always looking for new ways to get my heart broken... so I'll most likely be following the action this weekend!
