The World Cup 5 date (Moscow) HAS to be an error! Jan 3-5 is a Tues-Wed-Thurs...
However, FEBRUARY 3-5 is a Fri-Sat-Sun, and is exactly 1 week before World Cup 6 in Heerenveen. They generally have the World Cups in pairs, 1 week apart - so I'm thinking that Feb 3-5 will be the correct date for Moscow.
EDIT (Apr 28): ISU made the correction - it IS February, not January.

My original post on this thread has been modified to include the following changes to the 2011-12 schedule: - The World Cup 4 location is now listed by ISU as Shanghai, China (formerly Harbin).
- World Cup 6 (Heerenveen, Netherlands) is no longer listed as *provisional* - it's official.
- USS is now listing Age Group National Champ's for Mar 16-18, 2012 in Green Bay, WI.
- The American Cup Final is usually on the same weekend/location as Nationals, so it's likely to be Mar 16-18 in Green Bay.
Heads-up: ISU has announced some Provisional Allotments for the 2013-14 Short Track season... - Junior World Championships - Warsaw, Poland
- World Championships - Montreal, Canada
Hmmm... if the Montreal venue 'sticks', I just might make it to my first World Champioinships!

USS is now listing the following competitions on their schedule:
American Cup 1 - Oct 1-2, 2011, St. Louis, MO US Championships - Dec 19-24, 2011, Salt Lake City, UT American Cup 2 - Oct 29-30, 2011, Cleveland, OH
USS’ schedule differs from ISU - USS still lists WC4 in Harbin, China - and World Championships in Beijing, China. ISU’s recent Communication 1680 is showing that both will be in Shanghai, China.
Several of the ISU competitions are no longer listed as ‘provisional’.
All changes are reflected in the original post on this thread.
---------------------------------------
In addition, ISU’s provisional allotments for 2013 and 2014 are as follows:
ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships, January 18-20, 2013 Svenska Skridskoförbundet: Malmö/Sweden
ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships, February 22-24, 2013 Polish Speed Skating Association: Warsaw/Poland (new provisional allotment)

ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships, January 17-19, 2014 Deutsche Eisschnellauf-Gemeinschaft: Dresden/Germany
ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships, March 7-9, 2014 Turkish Skating Federation: Erzurum/Turkey
ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, March 14-16, 2014 Speed Skating Canada: Montreal/Canada

*DATE CHANGE FOR US CHAMPIONSHIPS*
The original date that I posted (Dec 19-24) was the one that USS had on its Schedule at that time - but one of our members notified me that they've changed it within the last few days. They're now listing it as:
December 30, 2011 - January 1, 2012 - Salt Lake City
As much as I'd love to ring in the New Year in 'wild and crazy' SLC ;D, I'm most definitely gonna have to pass this year, 'cause we'll be in Atlanta!

Well... the US Championships is no longer on USS' schedule, and I've heard that they may be changing the dates again. PLEEEASE have it in mid-January! The whole thing is a case of difficult timing - they need time after World Cup 4 to train for US Championships (they didn't even go to WC4 last year for that reason), but also time to rest, then train for the Winter World Cups. Keep in mind that the Winter World Cups can comprise a different mix of skaters who may or may not have trained with the National Team in the past. Throw the holidays into the mix, and it's a tough call. Keep watching the USS schedule for updates! Sk8er: Yes, Budapest is an awesome city - we were there in December, and it was a Winter Wonderland. The architecture is amazing, and it wasn't difficult to communicate with the locals. I wish we had had time to check out the ice arena!

*DATE CHANGE FOR US CHAMPIONSHIPS*Third time's the charm??? USS is now showing US Championships on Jan 6-8, 2012 in Salt Lake City. Some 'insiders' are sure enough about this date that they've booked airfare.

For those of you who haven't heard yet, USA will NOT be competing at World Cup 2 in Saguenay, Canada. From what I hear, it's a funding issue...

Not the first time. This is not a sport that attracts attention or funding, sadly. Hopefully as we get closer to 2014 the money scene will pick up. Sigh...in China they throw government money by the bushel at sports that will raise the country's profile. Here, we can't even raise money for the education and technology that will keep our country competitive on the global scene.
