It was, wasn't it? At one point? I could've sworn...
It should be anyway. Rocker-U Fan Forum makes more sense than Boots and Blades anyway. Boots and Blades sounds like a board for pirates for christ's sake.

. .. Boots and Blades sounds like a board for pirates for christ's sake. LOL!!!!!! Ruff, it's comments like that which (almost) make it worth our while to deal with you're naughty self ....which face it, you ARE fairly often. I realize you get off on it, but how 'bout you at least TRY not to get banned within the first week of joining? (if for no other reason than allowing me to continue to be able to enjoy comments such as the one above....) ;D

Jamaicanadian at WC3 in Montreal. Photo courtesy of aaosmts19. We sat in front of Olivier Jean's mom, and we enjoyed chatting with her. We may get a real thrill watching these skaters do what they do, but we tend to forget what it's like for their parents. I think white knuckling it through the competitions is pretty much the 'mode of operandi'

We saw a lot of Canadian 'favorite skaters' in Montreal. Marc Gagnon, Jonathan Guilmette, Steve Robillard (hobbeling around on crutches) and super cutie Jean Francois Monette. We were thinking of going up to the latter and saying hi, but we chickened out. Too bad, we would have had some cool pics to add to their threads, they probably would have gotten a cheap thrill out of fans remembering them - and American fans to boot. Now I'm kicking myself. What can I say, no guts, no glory. ...And no pictures.

Okay, how would you like to do an inline marathon in the snow? The snow melted when it hit the wet pavement, but still... I get cold just looking at the pics. Anyhow, the winner was Olivier Jean! Second went to another Canadian ST gold medalist, Steve Robillard. Third was www.speedskateworld.com creator (and last year's Marathon Montreal winner), Peter Doucet. And according to posts on FB, it appears that some members of the Virginia (Short Track) Speedskating Team participated as well. Olivier, Echardour Win Marathon Roller Montreal - 2010Inline Planet / May 9, 2010 Olympic gold medalist Olivier Jean made a triumphant return to inline skating today, winning the Marathon Roller Montreal in commanding style. Jean, 26, of Montreal took off on a solo breakaway with three laps to go on the 4-km racecourse and never looked back. At times, he built his lead to more than a minute and eventually he rolled across the finsh line with no other skater in sight. We have a 'two-fer' today for Olivier - he came in #2 in a lineup for The 10 Worst Hairdos in Sports. Ron Artest beat him - don't ya' just love the photo they chose? Short track speedskater Olivier Jean, of Montreal, Que., wears a piece of jewelry on his teeth and glasses as he jokes around during a national team training camp in Vancouver, B.C., on July 2, 2009. Photo: Darryl Dyck / Canadian PressThe accompanying text: There aren't very many white dudes who can pull off long flowing dreadlocks and even fewer who also happen to be Olympic gold medallists. Canadian short-track speedskater Olivier Jean has managed to bridge that divide, bringing a Rastafarian vibe to a winter sport dominated by diminutive Asian skaters. We're not sure how he manages to stuff it all under his helmet, and would rather not think about how nasty it gets in there after a race. That hair! OMG, it was worth them being on the podium at the Olys to see him pull off that toboggan for "O, Canada" and see that amazing head of hair. I don't know who came up with Jamaicadian, but it should be official in Websters' with a pic of Mr. Jean and his locks. He has enough hair to single-handedly clean up the Gulf of Mexico oil debacle.

In the Canadian ST Chat - General thread, I mentioned that Olivier has declined his spot on the ST World Cup team in favor of Long Track trials next month... here's a related video. Okay, it's in French - I can't understand a word of it, except "Rambo" and "Shani Davis", but you get the gist... and any video with Olivier Jean in it IS entertaining (he's such a 'colorful' guy)! does anyone know if he has a brother? i can't find anything about it if he does... Olivier? I dunno... (Do you understand enough French in that video to pick up something about a brother?) On an unrelated topic, I do know that I wanted his shoes. After a brief fan-sighting at a Starbucks in Feb 2008, I coveted them. I wouldn't have WORN them (well duh, they would've been too big), but I would certainly have displayed them - proudly - in my home, and I wouldn't care if they smelled like dirty socks. Unimpressed houseguest: "Whose shoes are those?" Me: "Olivier Jean's" Unimpressed houseguest: "Who's that?" Me: "You know, JamaiCanadian". Unimpressed houseguest: "Huh?" Me: "The only guy to ever win an Olympic gold medal in both Short Track and Long Track speedskating!" (Well, not yet, but I'm confident...) Now-suitably-impressed houseguest: "Ohhhh, HIM!" ;D They were, like, multicolored Converse All-Stars, the likes of which I've never seen... All kidding aside - Olivier, are you tired of those shoes yet? I want 'em - they're 'art'.

LOL, lori.
i don't speak french or understand it all. i was just asking because when i was watching trials there was a guy with dreads and a few of us thought it was him just sitting in front of the camera, but everyone in the chat kept calling him cory and when the guy turned around it was not olivier - although he looked a little like him. but i've searched and found nothing, so i thought some of you might have known since you've been to wc's recently.

Interesting video...
Olivier Jean (short track speed skating gold medalist) and Dr. Pierre Beauchamp (sports psychologist) discuss the value of using biofeedback to train for the Vancouver Olympics (2010).

Credit to Peter Doucet's www.speedskateworld.com site for this link, with a cool pic of Olivier: Caveman Athleteswww.torontosun.com/sports/othersports/2010/10/07/15618521.htmlThe caption below the pic includes this: Canadian speed skater Olivier Jean rocks dreadlocks, regardless of whether or not he's competing. The question of whether it alters his aerodynamics is a moot point following the gold medal he won in the men's relay in Vancouver.
