changing the subject alitte - whats the tv coverage/impression of the Olympics over in the US? ive been hearing stuff about NCB coverage beng sketchy and missing bits out? Welcome back, TRF! There's been a lot of criticism of NBC's coverage from various sources. A couple of notable gaffs: 1) They apparently switched to a Michael Phelps interview during opening ceremonies instead of covering the tribute to British terrorist bombing victims. (the only reasoning I could fathom for this is that they don't want to 'offend' the terrorists) 2) And they pressured Twitter into suspending the account of a journalist who criticized their Olympic coverage when he published the email account of an NBC exec so that people could complain directly - Twitter cited 'privacy violations'. He was later re-instated after public outcry, and because the email addy that he published was easily available to anyone who cared to look for it! Also, the marquis events are NOT televised live, but on tape delay - so that NBC can rake in those advertising dollars during prime time. This makes it nearly impossible to watch the coverage without having already heard the results of the most popular competitions. Here's a link that compares BBC coverage to NBC's: How the BBC crushed NBC and brought Olympics coverage into the future news.yahoo.com/bbc-crushed-nbc-brought-olympics-coverage-future-114400724.html

thanks! What?! you didnt see Emeli Sande singing Abide with Me? how lame - it was sooo beautiful and moving - ill try and track a video and post it.
Woah sounds bad, how they cant show events live is strange - most the Athletics shown in the evening so afternoon time in the US, shame money talks. The best bit is watching the action as it folds.
