So, $52,000.00. I know it's a tough economy, but surely somebody out there somewhere in corporate America could get on this philanthropic band wagon. I didn't find anything on Francois. LOL at the sympathy pains! Ouch Lori--did you become best friends with one of those donut pillows!

LOL at the sympathy pains! Ouch Lori--did you become best friends with one of those donut pillows! Oh - I forgot to add Simon's 500M title, and Katherine's 2 distance titles and overall title - don't they 'step onto the podium' for that? Cha-CHING! Add $4000... Donut pillow? Those are for wimps. (Well, truthfully speaking, it was more fun to whine...)

World Cup 6 - Germany stop, overall comments:
It was last World Cup before World Championships, the last a stop of this season too. It ended. The accidents were more! The first was used "fast skating rink" in Germany stop, men's relay races world record has been refreshed 2 times. Finally, the Great Britain team unexpectedly refreshed record of South Korea team! It was indeed very surprised. Of course, it owe to welfare of the skating rink, more or less. Otherwise the GBR men team skated this speed without the ability. Ladies relay final, I uploaded that post before the race, and I predicted the same result. When I watched the Ladies relay semifinal, I had a result premonition. The champion will not belong to two countries between South Korea and China. China team's status has been very poor in semifinal, the speed have not been able to improve. If not S Korea team's status was general too, they did not want to go beyond, otherwise they had overtook at halfway. The final track was very bad. I originally thought Liu Qiuhong contend track is better than Park Seung-Hi at least, the final did not expect to only grab the last one. Then Canada first stick not looked like ST-GELAIS Marianne, I did not see, so she did not contend the front track too. On the contrary, Park Seung-Hi immediately contended the second stick. USA team used the same of tactic, the semifinal had been used. The second stick was Lana, the third was Katherine Reutter, upset stick sequence in the middle of race. Finally, Katherine Reutter was the final a stick. The USA team's tactic will influence cadence of the back three teams. Because they lead to skating. Canada team used the tactic even got the men relay final champion on the Vancouver Winter Olympics Games!! The relay race is not the same of the single race, its beyond is very difficult, particularly the last site. Because they will absolutely do not give you the chance in the front of skaters. You only can exceed three skaters to the first site from outside track. This difficulty can be imagined it!! The last two laps were very confusion, the back of the three skaters all hard squeezed, then South Korea was squeezed out of the second. CHO Ha-Ri struggled to exceed the second, at this time she had no strength to exceed Katherine Reutter. If the last two laps were not so confusion, South Korea team was the second yet, I believe South Korea team can aslo contend the first with the USA team. Because only looked the last stick's skaters, only CHO Ha-Ri and Katherine were most strength. The stop, Asia only got foul gold medals. China got two medals, S Korea got 2 medals. Occident teams got 6 medals, the first time won Asia. This is over the years, Occident teams almost never won Asia, whether World Cup、World Championships or Winter Olympics Games. Even a tie seldom looked. I said at the end of the Russia stop, maybe Occident teams were the World Championships’ leading role, I think this sentence has more weight. Don't know if you have not found, got the Winter Olympics Games eight gold medals' China women team, Canada men team and South Korea men team were very poor in the stop, No team won the gold medal. Of course, this does not prove anything. I want to say it is just general world cup's a stop, A strong team may also be tired. Moreover, Chinese Zhou Yang did not join; South Korean women's PARK Seung-Hi and CHO Ha-Ri did not join in those single races, S Korea men team's Sung Si-Bak did not come. Not because One-stop World Cup races, to make a perfunctorily evaluation for a team.
Let's wait and see the World Championships after three weeks, China and South Korea can come up with what kind of status to confront Occident teams, to defend glory of Asia short track speed skating!

Very interesting analysis, Dose. It’s nice to hear perspectives from other countries that respect all of the skaters!
Korea, China, USA and Canada have been strong contenders for several years. In the 2010 Olympics, Arianna Fontana of Italy was the ONLY short track medalist (male or female) that was not from one of those 4 countries.
This year, however, some of the Northern European countries have pleasantly surprised me: Great Britain, Netherlands, Italy and Russia have impressed - and France has the #1 and #3 men overall on the World Cup circuit.
I do agree that the absence of various Chinese and Korean skaters may have hindered their teams. Even so, a quick look at the top 4 Overall skaters for each of the more 'traditionally' dominant countries reveals that the Chinese team seemed to have the most depth for both men and ladies this year.
But really, every country can point to various 'missing' skaters. This is a post-Olympic year – a rebuilding year - and all countries are looking toward Sochi 2014. Skaters who narrowly missed going to Vancouver are now getting a chance to shine. Young, untested skaters are gaining valuable experience that will make them contenders over the next 3 years.
It should be an exciting World Championships!
