OMG - our thoughts & prayers are with the victims and their families. Wondering if our ST World Cup team is scheduled to fly through this airport for WC#5(?) USS is reporting that the Long Track team did fly safely thru Moscow, but not at this airport. Would this have been our Masters I (i.e., Andrew - Berlin), or would it have been the Sprint team (i.e., Shani & Joey - Heerenveen)? therockfairy: Wow... that's quite an interesting article - thanks for sharing (and welcome to the board, too!). I saw a comment on FB from one of the LT skaters' parents - it must have been frightening to hear the news, knowing that your son/daughter was flying into Moscow at about the same time. From the article: "U.S. Speedskating Chief Executive Mark Greenwald said in an e-mail he and his staff were in discussions about whether to bring home the long-track athletes now in Moscow and whether a delegation of U.S. short-track skaters would travel there as scheduled for a Feb. 11-13 competition. The U.S. Olympic Committee has been in contact with the State Department about the situation."Hoping everything (for both LT & ST) is able to go off as planned.

Thank you - yeah I just googled and it came up.
I cant imagine the fear in their minds. I guess it all depends what happens in the next 2 weeks in terms of security and also the Russian government's response. Unfortunately we live in times where there is always going to be a risk of something like this happening. I just hope everyone stays safe!
(sorry for being depressing....)

If you have an extreme case of insomnia this weekend, come join us here on this thread as we follow the ISU's data feed for World Cup 5! Let's support our skaters!!!Moscow is 8 hours ahead of Eastern time; 11 hours ahead of Pacific time. I don't have a schedule yet of official start times - the early info says that Friday is qualifying rounds; Saturday & Sunday 9AM and 8AM, respectively, are the Repechage rounds; Saturday & Sunday 2PM for QF's, SF's and Finals. So... Saturday & Sunday's Repechage action would start 9-10PM Pacific time; 6-7PM Eastern (that would be FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT here in the USA) - the Main Event would start around 1AM both days (again... that would be overnight Friday and Saturday night) Bookmark the following link - when you see a red LIVE item in the menu bar, click on it. If I can drink enough coffee, I'll be here - and I'd love some company! Here's the link: www.sportresult.com/federations/ISU/ShortTrack/Sometime on Thursday, this link will probably be posting start times for all 3 days - we'll keep you posted!

BTW, the schedule is now posted at Sportresult (it wasn't there last night). The preliminary rounds start at 9:30am Moscow time. That means that the action for all US time zones starts overnight TONIGHT (Thursday): 10:30PM Pacific; 1:30AM EasternHere's the updated link: www.sportresult.com/federations/ISU/ShortTrack/?evt=11210300000006Watch for the red 'LIVE' button in the menu bar. RIGHT NOW, though, you can click on any event in the schedule on the right, and see the line-up. First up will be the Ladies' 1500M Heats: Jessica Smith (Heat 2); Katherine Reutter (Heat 3); Emily Scott (Heat 5) We can enter 3 skaters in each distance. This means that each skater will skate in 2 out of 3 individual distances. The coaches determine who skates each distance - and also, who will skate any round in the relay. Good luck to everyone!

*hehehe*...happy to amuse ;D Well, I'm up - - and I'm dressed. Don't know how long I'll last. Too bad that brutal case of insomnia didn't show up tonight instead of last night when being up until 5am would have served some sort of purpose...
