Well, it's official! And if y'all will allow me to toot my own horn for a bit, this roster jives with my 'ciphering' (i.e., analysis) in the post above. ;D
Official U.S. short track roster unveiled Posted: Jan 4, 4:21p ET | Updated: Jan 8, 9:21a ET By Jason Devaney, Universal Sports
US Speedskating confirmed to Universal Sports on Monday which short track skaters will compete in the Olympics and in which events.
The 10-member team (five men, five women) had been chosen at the conclusion of the World Cup season in November, but the events each athlete would skate were to be determined after in January.
As expected, Apolo Ohno and Katherine Reutter are in all three individual events plus the relay. J.R. Celski, who suffered a deep gash in his left leg at the U.S. Olympic Trials in September and did not skate on the World Cup circuit because he was rehabbing, will compete in Vancouver in the 1000m and 1500m.
Below is the full U.S. short track roster.
MEN Apolo Ohno - 500m, 1000m, 1500m J.R. Celski - 1000m, 1500m Jordan Malone - 500m, 1500m Travis Jayner - 1000m Simon Cho - 500m
WOMEN Katherine Reutter - 500m, 1000m, 1500m Alyson Dudek - 500m Kimberly Derrick - 1000m, 1500m Allison Baver - 1000m, 1500m Lana Gehring - relay
*Note: All skaters are entered in the relay. US Speedskating spokesperson Peri Kinder said the coaches will decide who actually skates in the event.
