What? No China in the first 3 World Cups? Well, that's what the embattled Korean team did last year, and they came back strong. I really do wish them the best in putting this behind them and moving forward. Do not know the specific circumstance about World Cups races. Looked the other national teams are trying hard to train, Have been proud of their unity but now felt embarrassed. Now there are too many versions about event, but it isn't good thing whether which party is right or wrong. Thank you for wish. Similarly hope the haze quickly disperse. If everyone are open-minded as like you, everything will can look like the good aspect to develop. Now the result is: Wang Meng and Liu Xianwei suspended, the other four players (Zhou Yang, Liu Qiuhong, Liang Wenhao and Han Jialiang) can train and written self-criticism. But it is only a preliminary. Yesterday is first training of all players after retrun Beijing. But Zhou Yang, Head Coach Li Yan and Assistant Coach Ma Yanjun did not participate in training besides of Wang Meng and Liu Xianwei. It is said that Zhou Yang and Li Yan were sick leave, Ma Yanjun went to Qingdao for training equipments.

Wow - that's quite a lot to take in. I can hardly imagine the Chinese team without them. I like Wang Meng very much, and I'm sad to see this - but at the same time, I'm very happy that 3 other favorites of mine (Zhao Nannan, Liu Quihong, and Fan Kexin) have not been mentioned in this incident.

wow just catching up on all this - what triggered it off? I think its a bit harsh to expel her from the national team - maybe a temporary suspension more suitable?#
edit: ive just read more and seems there was disagreement between the two regarding her cufew and she was also apparently suspended before for another incident.
i think we'll be hearing more of this in the future - not the end yet

Wang Meng expelled from national team English Video: english.cntv.cn/program/sportsscene/20110805/114188.shtmlText News: english.cntv.cn/program/sportsscene/20110805/116543.shtmlChina's most decorated Winter Olympics athlete is paying the price for breaking the rules and more. Short-track speed-skating heroine Wang Meng has been kicked-off the national team because of a drunken brawl with the team manager. Head coach Li Yan says the incident has tarnished everything the squad's accomplished in the past 12 months. Li said, "I think the guilty athlete should be punished somehow. Speaking of the brawl is one thing. But over the past year, the team has made great achievements, winning four Olympic gold medals and completing a grand slam. The team has turned from honor to disgrace. I think we need to think deep about what has happened." Wang Meng and her teammate Zhou Yang It's also reported another Olympic champion, Zhou Yang, has decided to quit the national team in response to Wang's ejection, along with team-mate Liu Xianwei. An alleged argument among the members of China's world champion speed-skaters left the four-time Olympic gold medallist Wang Meng needing dozens of stitches when she broke glass with her hands. The incident happened after several team members broke a 10 p-m curfew. The rule was put in place after an incident in June, in which team members reportedly clashed with police. The second incident on July 27th, at the team's training camp in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, involved several skaters on the squad. Wang has won more Winter Olympic medals than any other Chinese athlete. She claimed three golds at the Vancouver Games last year, and one gold, a silver and a bronze at Turin in 2006. Expelled Olympic champ could strap on skates again Wang Meng appeared at a meeting at the Winter Sports Administrative Center on July 29. (Photo source: China Daily) BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The door is still open for China's most-decorated Winter Olympic athlete - who was kicked off the team on Thursday following a drunken brawl with the team manager - to once again represent her country on the ice. Wang Meng, 26, as well as one member of the men's team, had been temporarily suspended following an incident at a training camp in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao on July 24. "There is no clear length to their bans. We want the athletes to realize their faults and give them the chance to correct them," Zhao Yinggang, director of China's Winter Sports Administrative Center, said on Friday. "If they can realize and correct their faults, the door of the national team is still open to them. If they can learn their lesson, step out of the shadow and stand on the ice again, they can still compete for the country." Wang, a four-time Winter Olympic gold medalist, reportedly punched her team manager Wang Chunlu after being criticized for failing to return on time to the camp after a night out with teammates. Men's team member Liu Xianwei was alleged to have stirred things up before the argument between Wang Meng and Wang Chunlu turned physical. The two have been banned from participation in both national and international competitions. The State General Administration of Sport has asked the Winter Sports Administrative Center to hand in written self-criticisms as well. Four other squad members involved, Zhou Yang and Liu Qiuhong from the women's team, and Han Jialiang and Liang Wenhao from the men's side, were allowed to keep training with the national team, but would have to hand in written introspections. Wang is famous for her fiery temper and it is not the first time she has landed herself in trouble. She was expelled from the national team for six months in 2007 after criticizing her coach's training methods at the Asian Winter Games. After the punishment was announced on Thursday, most of the skaters who weren't expelled, including Olympic champion Zhou, threatened to quit the national team, saying that the administration's decision to expel Wang Meng without punishing Wang Chunlu is unfair. Those skaters, as well as head coach Li Yan, didn't take part in the training on Friday. Li, who led the women's team to sweep all four gold medals for the women's team at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games last year, also blamed the work style of the team manager. In Li's opinion, only putting the ban on athletes is not enough to solve the problems in the team. "The work style of the team manager destroyed the union of the team," Li was quoted saying by Xinhua. Team manager Wang Chunlu didn't speak to the media, but said through a text message that "concerning the administration of the team, I followed the order of the administration center and do things that are good for the team. I have a clear conscience." Li also complained about not getting much support from the authority. The Winter Sports Administrative Center has also been criticized a lot by the public. According to a survey on weibo.com, 72 percent of respondents believed that "it's not necessary to expel Wang, but to deeply investigate the problems within the team". In June, Wang and her teammates reportedly clashed with security guards who accused them of making too much noise during a night out in the southwestern Chinese city of Lijiang. That incident led to the 10 pm curfew being imposed during last month's summer training camp. Director Zhao admitted the mistake and vowed to work more on the affair. "We didn't do enough to guide the team and we need to learn the lesson," Zhao said. "We just punished people who are directly involved in the affair this time, but it's not only the athletes who are to be blamed. As officials of the team, we should also take the responsibility. There is still a lot of work to do." (Sources: China Daily) news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/indepth/2011-08/06/c_131032702.htm
