Better late than never... Michael's gonna be fine - on another thread we hear that he still has a chance to be placed on the Olympic Team. This is an article that came out the day after his concussion, and I wanted to make sure it got on his thread... Last one for the day, I promise...
A week ago I posted on Valerie Maltais' page about her participating in the Canadian Olympic Team's "a day in the life" and how Michael Gilday also participated. His tweets have now been compiled and here is a "typical" day for Michael:

I really enjoyed his tweets and his sense of humour and this is definitely worth taking 5 minutes to read.
Michael also has a website with a blog that he updates regularly and it's just as enjoyable to read: mgilday.com/

Yes, Michael is a favorite of 'The Posse' - we met his dad in Vancouver (2009) when they were doing the test event for the Olympics, and we stay in touch. Lovely, lovely family! ...and don't ever apologize for many posts - it's greatly appreciated! People don't always post responses, but I can assure you they are reading!

Michael has had a fantastic career and he has so much to be proud of. Wishing him all the best.
Michael Gilday, Yellowknife's Olympic speedskater, retires
Yellowknife speedskater Michael Gilday announced his retirement last week.
Over the course of his career, Gilday won 15 gold Ulus at the Arctic Winter Games from 2000 to 2004.
He joined the national speed skating squad in 2005 and set a world's record in the men's 1000-metre in 2007.
Gilday competed in the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, but failed to make it out of the quarter finals.
“I competed in the Olympics, which was amazing, but I did want to go there to win a medal, at least, to win a Gold medal. But that didn't happen. So, you kind of want to say why not try again?
"But four years is a long time to commit to something that's as taxing on your body and mind as elite-level sport is. I think over time I will realize more that the accomplishment of competing at the Olympics is huge.”
