PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING:The only ‘rule’ you really need to know – This board is not a democracy. If you know us - Laura (Lori) and Michelle (Mtnme) - from Facebook, Twitter, or other short track boards – you know that we’re generally friendly, and prefer humor over conflict any day of the week. However, we’ve decided that it would NOT be the best course of action to start this board off by spouting platitudes like "You can talk about anything you want", or "We respect everyone’s opinions", or "Just be nice" - ‘cause, well, you can’t, we might not, and you'd better. Furthermore, it’d just get people's knickers in a twist if we say we'll be infinitely tolerant, then proceed to modify or delete posts when things get dicey (as they do sometimes). Instead, we prefer to be up-front right in the beginning by informing you that we’ll be overly-cautious moderators - then we’ll loosen up our ‘tudes later if it’s warranted. ('Taking a lesson here from a popular teacher whose mantra was "Never smile 'til after Thanksgiving"…) Some examples of things that will get our attention, particularly if we receive complaints: (A) Derogatory or slanderous remarks about skaters, their loved ones, or other members will NOT be tolerated - that being said... intelligent, respectful commentary and conversation is always welcome. (B) Certain ‘dirty’ words (you’ll know ‘em when you use ‘em, ‘cause we’ll edit ‘em), especially if directed at other people. (C) Invasive speculation about the skaters’ private lives. (D) Details about US skaters that provide hints to their competitors which could be detrimental to our team in international competition. (E) Revealing personal or private information without permission – i.e., a member's true identity (including identities from other websites), address, age, city of residence, phone number, e-mail addy, photos of their home, private communications, etc. (unless revealed publicly by the person himself/herself). This rule also applies to info about skaters and their loved ones. The above does not apply to info obtained through mainstream media and other public news sources. In a nutshell: If there are complaints about any aspect of your post, or if the moderators feel that there WILL be complaints, it will likely be modified or deleted. Please understand this before you post. Now go play, but "Play Nice."
