In the Ladies 500M(1) Heats, none of our Ladies advanced. Jerebelle & Kristen will be in the Reps tomorrow. Kimi got 'no time', which may mean she fell - I'm not sure how 'no time' translates to the Repechages. Hopefully she'll be able to skate in them!
In the Mens 500M(1) Heats, Keith advanced to tomorrow's Quarterfinals!
In the Mens 500M(2)Prelims, J.R advanced, but Cole & Aaron will be in Sunday's Repechages.

In the Ladies 1000M Heats, Jessica & Kristen will be in Sunday's Repechage Rounds. Kimi "Did Not Start" - oh dear, I hope she didn't get hurt in her 'no time' in the 500M!
In the Mens 1000M Heats, John-Henry advanced, but Thomas & Keith will be in the Sunday Reps.
In the Ladies 500M(2) Heats, none of our ladies advanced, and all will be in Sunday's Reps (Katy, Lexi & Jerebelle)

In the Mens 500M(2) Heats, J.R. advanced to Sunday's Quarterfinals! In the Relays, sadly, neither the Men nor the Ladies will be moving on...

And I think that's why she also withdrew from 1000m. She was able to walk out of the rink on her own so I hope it's nothing serious. There were a lot of hard crashes yesterday. Here's the race where Kimi fell: youtu.be/TVbT0_-_Zgo

Here's the recap of today's racing: In the Ladies 500M(1) none of our Ladies made it out of the Repechages, though Kristen did get advanced to the Rep Quarterfinals. Again, Kimi didn't start! I hope she's okay... We had no Ladies skating the 500M(1) in the afternoon round. Elise Christe (GBR) won gold. In the Mens 500M(1), both Aaron & Thomas made it into the Repechage Semifinals, and Thomas made it out of the Repechages into this afternoon's Quarterfinals - not an easy chore! But both Thomas & Keith finished 4th in their Quarterfinal heats and did not advance. Samuel Girard (CAN) won gold. In the Ladies 1500M, we had no Ladies in the Finals, though Jessica did make it into the Semis (finished 5th). In the Mens 1500M, Cole Krueger advanced out of the Repechages, finished 4th in the Semis, and 3rd in the B Final. John-Henry got a Penaty in the Semifinals, and J.R did not start? Kwak Yoon-Gy (KOR) won gold. In the Relay A Finals, for the Men it'll be Canada, Korea, China & Hungary. For the Ladies it'll be Canada, Korea, China & Russia. I saw that Kimi got a knock to the 'noggin', so she didn't skate the rest of the weekend. She's gonna be fine, but they always operate on an abundance of caution with a possible concussion! I'm not sure what happened with J.R., but he had a couple of 'Did Not Starts' - as did John-Henry in the 1000M Quarterfinals Wonder what happened to them??? In the 500M(2), nobody made it out of the Repechages (Men or Ladies). Our only skater in the medal rounds was J.R., who was due to skate in the Quarterfinals - but as I said, he was a DNS... Choi Minjeong (KOR) won gold for the Ladies; Charles Hamelin (CAN) for the Men. In the 1000M, Jessica and Keith battled their way out of the Repechages into the Quarterfinals, but did not advance from there. John-Henry was a DNS in the Quarterfinals. Shim Suk Hee (KOR) and Charle Cournoyer (CAN) won gold. In the Relays, for the Ladies it was 1)Korea; 2)China; 3)Russia For the Men, it was 1)Canada; 2)Korea; 3)China It seems like Team Canada did well for the home town crowd in these first 2 World Cups - 9 medals, 4 of them Gold!

Hi, I just returned home from Toronto... been up since 5AM for flight time. Regarding J.R. 'DNS'... I assume you all know by now that he was injured on his ankle during Friday's relay race. I heard that another skater's skate hit J.R. HARD! (I couldn't quite believe that 'penalty', even after I watched the replay, but what do I know!) He had done quite well until then! I was relieved to see him skate off, but I did see him grimacing! I did talk to him yesterday late afternoon at the arena; I said, "I hope that you're not hurting too much!" He assured me that he was okay! Also, John Henry took a hard fall, being air-born with both feet up in the air, and he came down hard on his rear. He seemed much better this morning, but his glut was quite sore yesterday morning, thus the withdrawal. He was walking on crutches yesterday but was walking on his own this morning! I think we're all relieved that the injuries weren't of a very serious nature, including Kimi! It was really nice to see Jessica's mom yesterday at the venue... I last saw her at the SLC Oval nearly 3 years ago. Toronto is a massive, sprawled-out city, as is the Pearson International Airport! So, imagine my surprise, (after I had just cleared through "Global Entry" security check) the first people I ran into was John Henry and Cole! Then as I was searching for my gate, I came face-to-face with J.R.! Aaron Tran was with him! Furthermore, I was looking for a place to grab breakfast to take on the plane... when I noticed... grinning and greeting me was Jessica! Would you believe that TEAM USA was only 2 short gates away from my own gate?!! Their plane left at 8:15am as my own boarding was announced! I wished them all "good luck, train hard and stay healthy"! I took many photos, both of TEAM USA and also the other competitors, but I have not loaded them on this PC yet!
