Oh, in the replay it looks clearly like the Chinese skater came over into Chris - still waiting...

Well, Hamelin (who won the race) was penalized for impeding, and the Chinese skater was advanced. They way they probably saw it was that Hamelin did something that caused the Chinese skater to cut in front of Chris. As Chris was not in a qualifying position, he was not advanced. Unlucky. So, we have no USA skaters in the 1000M Finals - but it's possible that J.R. will be in the 3000M Superfinal later. After the first 2 distances, he was tied for 3rd Overall. It's also possible that Jessica will make it into the Ladies' Superfinal. ------------------- Mens 1000M SemifinalsHeat 1 [Splits] Place Start Pos. Warn. # Name ISU Member Results Qual. I love seeing Elise Christie and the Korean girls chatting with each other and laughing in the heat box. Also hearing some "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" music in the background, haha!

Jessica finishes 2nd in the Superfinal! The Korean ladies were just 'cruising' thru most of the race, conserving energy while Ter Mors and Maltais battled for the extra points at Lap 9. Shim Suk Hee and Park Seung-Hi were tied in points for first place overall. Jessica had the lead with 2 laps to go, but Shim Suk Hee blasted past her to win the Superfinal AND the World Championship! This cameraman completely sucks b@lls. Focuses on no one they are actually announcing and usually only on a Canadian if they are in the front. Dude, there ARE other skaters on the ice.

J.R. CELSKI - SILVER MEDAL OVERALL!!! He won the Superfinal, going out like a rabbit and then drafting the main pack - he just cruised for the last few laps. CONGRATS J.R.!!! VICTOR AN wins yet another World Championship!Charles Hamelin had 4th place locked up, but booted out in the final turn, finishing last and only earning 1 point for the race. Had he stayed on his feet, I think he would have tied J.R. for 2nd. (I don't know if there would have been tie-breakers). As it ended up, Charles still makes the Overall podium in 3rd place! Well that was weird. Canada just fell in the exchange - looks like her feet just went out from under her. But they ARE back in it...

Oh dear - Penalty on Korea (finished 1st) for impeding against China (finished 2nd). And guess which official had to make the call? James Hewitt - the Aussie official that penalized Korea against China in the Vancouver Olympics! Deja Vu.
It WAS more substantial than a blade-click this time - and the Koreans don't seem to be all that put off about it.
Gold - Korea Silver - Canada Bronze - Italy
Men are up next - it would be refreshing to see the Brits on the podium again.

Okee-Dokee - the competition's over!
Wonderful news for J.R.'s Overall Silver Medal - and Jessica finished 5th Overall!
Chris Creveling finished 17th Overall, and Emily Scott finished 21st. Chris' 17th-place finish got us oh-so-close to qualifying 3 men for next year's Championships! (Needed 2 skaters in the Top 16 with at least one receiving 'final' points).
Well done, safe travels, and hopefully some much-deserved rest for all of the skaters!
There is one remaining competition on the Short Track docket this year - next weekend's Age Group National Championships in St. Louis. I 'think' I'm going, but haven't decided for sure yet!
