Jordan is a Did Not Start in his C/D Semifinal. I hope he didn't get hurt in his earlier fall...

Jordan is a Did Not Start in his C/D Semifinal. I hope he didn't get hurt in his earlier fall... They just interviewed Jordan & he said he had a strained tendon and bruised ribs from his fall. He said that competing in the last 2 rounds wasn't likely to change his status as far as being in the top 5 so he's opted not to skate the last 2 rounds.

There was a lot of confusion about the last Mens SF - we can't hear the announcements very well. Travis & Kyle Carr were battling it out for that last slot in the A Final and both fell. Cole Krueger pulled a Bradbury and got the final spot in the A Final. The last word we heard was that both Carr & Jayner got Penalties.
If so, the A Final will be J.R. Celski, Eddy Alvarez, John-Henry Krueger and Cole Krueger.
Is that what y'all are hearing on TV?

Apolo said it looked like Travis realized it was his last chance to make the team and took a risk, knowing he could get penalized (DQ'd in old short track terms), but he had to try. Apolo said it was difficult to tell who was responsible for the contact; the judges were going to have to sort it out.

I'm thrilled for Kyle Carr - he has been on the bubble to make the team before. One year, he either didn't compete in the trials or he was less than 100% due to an injury and didn't make the team. I'm excited his day has finally come.
I am disappointed for Travis Jayner, though. He skates with so much heart; I hate to see him come so close and not make the team.

Tony is Tweeting that it will be Celski, Alvarez, Carr, Creveling and Malone going to Sochi for the men - but we haven' t heard anything official yet. There's no discretionary selection so the teams are just based on results and that's the men's team. As far as I know, who's skating what distance was decided based on trials results. The team should be: Men - J.R. Celski (500m, 1000m, 1500m)
- Eddie Alvarez (500m, 1000m, 1500m)
- Chris Creveling (1000m, 1500m)
- Jordan Malone (500m)
- Kyle Carr (relay only)
Women - Jessica Smith (500m, 1000m, 1500m)
- Emily Scott (500m, 1000m, 1500m)
- Alyson Dudek (500m, 1500m)
I think US Speedskating should be confirming the team either tonight or tomorrow.
