J.R. skated in the World Championships (March 14-16, 2014 - Montreal, CAN). He had a great weekend, winning SILVER in the 500M and finishing FIRST in the 3000M (a non-medal event). Best of all, he won SILVER OVERALL! Here are his results:
2nd (Silver) Overall 1500M – Heats (1st); Semifinals (4th) 500M – SILVER MEDAL; Prelims (2nd); Heats (2nd); Quarterfinals (2nd); Semifinals (1st); Final (2nd) 1000M - Heats (1st); Quarterfinals (1st); Semifinals (3rd) 3000M – 1st (a non-medal event) 5000M Relay - J.R. skated in the Semifinals where the team finished 3rd and did not advance

THANK YOU for posting these, Lily - I'm so glad you got to go! Thank YOU, Lori! I'm so glad we went to Montreal... I don't know why I didn't go before! It was a most beautiful time of year to travel in Montreal and also Quebec City... still with signs of Winter everywhere! The biggest bonus of all was being able to watch J.R. win the 3000M race, even tho it's a non-medal event! And the big surprise on our train-ride to New York City... being able to have J.R. sign our flag, which I gave to Special Olympian Grandson Brett, as an inspiration to do well in his own Summer Games! ♥

We heard second-hand conversation about this during US Championships in January, but now J.R. has posted it on his website. The bad news is that he had hip surgery in November for a torn labrum - actually, he's had the injury since before Sochi . Awesome!!! Just the new I was waiting for. Maybe we can bring one of the World Cups back to US and some medals too.
