I have to say I was uber impressed with Jordan and the little impromtu interview that he did with Tony on the stream.I know this is hard for him to be going thru these health challenges but he is facing it with grace. Its cool to hear him dreaming of life after skating too.

Jordan was entered in the US Single-Distance Championships in Salt Lake City (Sept 27-30, 2012). Unfortunately, some stubborn kidney stones required surgery in the days before the competition so he wasn't able to skate. However, he joined the celebration with some of his teammates who made the team, and my friend Lily caught the moment: L to R: Kyle Carr; Travis Jayner; Jordan Malone; Jeff Simon. Jordan had a lot of bad luck last year with illness and injury - but he's still training towards Sochi, and has a GoFundMe account. If you'd like to support him, here's the link: Be a part of my Olympic journey!www.gofundme.com/Jordanmalone2014

It seems that the story of this guy's life has been illness or injury at the most inopportune times! A nice story... But friends of Malone have a joke, and that joke is that Jordan Malone is never safe... Read it all: www.nbcolympics.com/news/luck-be-lady-malone-overcomes-bad-breaks

Jordan Malone's homemade equipment gives U.S. competitive edgeBy Martin Rogers February 12, 2014 5:15 AM Yahoo Sports SOCHI, Russia – Jordan Malone's teammates call him the "mad scientist" of short-track speedskating and he admits he deserves the tag.
"That's about right," Malone said. "I am the geeky one. I spend way too much time thinking about materials and formulas and compounds. I really submerge myself in it."
Malone's intellectual approach to a sport of frenetic action and often spectacular crashes has actually been of great benefit to the U.S. team due to an ingenious high-tech creation – carbon-fiber tips that the skaters wear on their fingers.Read it all: sports.yahoo.com/news/jordan-malone-s-homemade-equipment-gives-u-s--competitive-edge-101517553.html

It's interesting that Jordan's agent was surprised that these athletes have to resort to personal donations to make ends meet! Olympic Wins Can Bring Glory, But they Don't Pay the BillsFebruary 2014 Jordan Malone knows the clock is ticking for him to capitalize on his medal win in Sochi.
“I am never going to be more popular than right before and right after the Olympics,” the 29-year-old short-track speedskater says. “Nothing demands attention more than an Olympic medal.”
It’s been seven days since the Texas native took home the silver in the 5,000-meter speedskating relay, and he’s hoping to use the momentum to secure endorsement deals and speaking gigs to bring in a steady income.Read it all: www.foxbusiness.com/personal-finance/2014/02/28/olympic-wins-can-bring-glory-but-not-always-cash/TAGS: Jordan Malone / Sochi Olympics / Athlete Funding
