Wisconsin speedskater Alyson Dudek gets backing from her favorite PackerBy Gary D’Amato of the Journal Sentinel Feb. 14, 2014 Sochi, Russia — Alyson Dudek of Hales Corners has a new fan. She's been wearing his Green Bay Packers jersey for years and now he's pulling for her to win a short-track speedskating medal at the Winter Olympics.
"Oh, my gosh," Dudek said of her Twitter connection with Donald Driver. "Donald is my favorite Packer since I can remember. I've always admired him and, of course, he played for my favorite team."Read it all: www.jsonline.com/sports/olympics/wisconsin-speedskater-alyson-dudek-gets-backing-from-her-favorite-packer-b99205691z1-245574361.html

Aly was on the World Championship team (March 14-16, 2014 - Montreal, CAN). She did not skate individual events in this competition, but skated in the 3000M Ladies Relay Semifinals, where the team finished 4th and did not advance.

Okay, if you DVR'd Wednesday's Amazing Race, you should have watched it by now - but if not, consider this a SPOILER ALERT!
------------
After a mud run in Southern California and learning a dance routine in Tokyo, Aly & Steve finished 4th - so they will continue in the race! The twist in this season is that half of the teams were meeting each other for the first time, but if I'm remembering right, the top 3 finishers were 'Blind-Daters' - and Aly & Steve were the top finishers among the couples with already-established relationships.
They didn't seem to get a whole lot of airplay, IMO - but it did seem that the Premier episode was focusing more on the teams who were a) meeting for the first time, or b) struggling. We'll see what happens tonight!
The next episode is airing TONIGHT - prolly already underway on the East Coast! Friday nights will be the ongoing weekly time slot.

If y'all are anything like me, it may be DAYS before you watch something on your DVR - so forgive me if I'm just now posting about LAST week's Amazing Race!
Aly & Steve traveled from Tokyo to Nagano, Japan (site of the 1998 Winter Olympics, hint. hint. hint) After a puzzle-box challenge (which Aly did very well), the teams had a choice between two challenges:
A) "Samurai Saki", where teams had to memorize 10 different brands of Saki (in Japanese, of course), then deliver the correct bottle to a table full of lively 'Samurais'... or,
B) Go to the Nagano Olympics Long Track Ice Rink and push each other on an 'ice chair' for 2 laps around the ice, with a time deadline to meet.
GUESS WHICH ONE THE SPEEDSKATER AND BOBSLEDDER CHOSE??? DUH!!!
Anyhow, they did great, and moved from 4th place up to 3rd.
They are still in the Race, and I'll report on tonight's episode... hopefully before NEXT week's episode!

Aly & Steve fell back to 5th in Friday's episode of The Amazing Race, mainly due to difficulties in a wakeboarding challenge - they (as well as the only other couple who chose the wakeboarding option) switched tasks and went to the zipline option, where they had to deliver about 8 food/drink items on a tray via zipline to diners up in a tree. They did THAT challenge on the first try, so they didn't fall back too far! The second challenge, which they also did well, was to dress up in cabaret costumes (yes, Steve too) and perform a dance on stage. They're working well together, staying calm with their tasks and with each other - I'm looking forward to Friday's episode!

"Get In that Lederhosen, Baby1" Aly & Steve finished this leg in first place - and they each won a new Ford Focus! www.cbs.com/shows/amazing_race/video/?ftag=ACQ0141ac0&vndid=cbs%20+amazing%20+race%20full%20episode&ef_id=UwvGtQAAABL5mGK3:20150405232056:sThey were in Munich, Germany in this episode, and they had to: 1) Drive a car backwards through a Winter Wonderland, looking for clues in their rearview mirror 2) Row across a lake to retrieve a clue 3) Deliver 22 heavy beer steins (all in one trip between the 2 of them) to thirsty customers in a beer hall 4) Aly had to sing a traditional German courtship song to Steve while standing on a ladder while he listened from the balcony of a chalet (she messed up the words on her first try and got a bucket of cold water dumped on her head - but got it right on the second try) ...all of this while dressed in traditional Oktoberfest garb. Will they be in the top 3 who eventually FINISH this race around the world? Will they finish FIRST and win ONE MILLION DOLLARS? Tune in next Friday, CBS for the next leg! ----- I just realized that I didn't put anything up from the episode BEFORE this, where they moved back up from 5th place to 3rd. They were in Bangkok, Thailand, and had to do the following (including lots of foreign-country navigation): 1) Travel by water taxi enroute to the next clue, stopping to eat a 'thousand-year-old egg', and say a traditional prayer at a Thai temple. 2) Steve had to remove the transmission from a faulty engine block, which contained a hidden screwdriver - he had to figure out that the next clue was hidden inside the handle of the screwdriver. Anyway, they've gone from third to FIRST in the most recent leg!
