According to the article, Aly's prolly on her way back to SLC now after a whirlwind weekend! Speedskater Dudek on fast track for Packers game Quick break in training will be spent at Lambeau FieldBy Gary D’Amato of the Journal Sentinel / Dec. 23, 2011 Alyson Dudek is going the extra mile or 2,000 to celebrate Christmas with her family at Lambeau Field. With the U.S. Short-Track Speedskating Championships just two weeks away, Dudek, a 2010 Olympian from Hales Corners, persuaded her Korean coach, Jae Su Chun, to give her a 36-hour pass to come home for Packers vs. Bears. "I asked him, 'Do you know the Green Bay Packers?' and he said he did," Dudek said. "He was a little hesitant but he said it would be OK because I'm not going to miss any training." The challenge was working out her schedule so that she wouldn't miss training sessions Saturday and Monday in Salt Lake City. Dudek will train Saturday morning on the Olympic Oval, board a 2 p.m. flight for Milwaukee, attend the game Sunday night and return early Monday morning to Salt Lake City. She has to be on the ice at 3 p.m. "It's going to be close, but the flights worked out," Dudek said. "It cost me a lot of miles on Delta. I had a lot saved up and I thought this would be the perfect time to cash them in." Dudek, 21, helped the U.S. win a bronze medal in the 3,000-meter relay at the 2010 Vancouver Games. Her family has Packers season tickets and she describes herself as a "die-hard" fan. Obviously. "It's really about being with my family for Christmas and my whole family is going to be at the game, which makes it that much sweeter," she said. "It's going to be so exciting." The U.S. Short-Track Championships are Jan. 6-8 in Salt Lake City.[/img] Read More: www.jsonline.com/sports/etc/speedskater-dudek-isnt-about-to-miss-packersbears-md3icc7-136168738.html+++ Tags: Alyson Dudek / Jae Su Chun / Short Track Speedskating

Here's the Facebook page for the ice center, and some more info about it. Give it a 'Like' - it looks like fun, and it'll be FREE to the public! www.facebook.com/home.php#!/AlysonDudekInternationalIceCenter?fref=ts Hales Corners resident Alyson Dudek made history in 2010 when she became the first Wisconsin athlete to medal in Short Track Speedskating at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. The women's US Short Track Speedskating Team took home the bronze in the 3,000m Relay.
The proposed Alyson Dudek International Ice Center will benefit future athletes as they pursue their dreams, and bring back the ...fun of family recreational skating, as well as other community uses.
Our goal is to build a 100' X 200' Olympic-sized, outdoor ice skating rink that will be open to the public in December 2012. Estimated costs for building the rink are $150,000. With strong community interest in an outdoor facility for residents to enjoy free ice skating and recreation, we can go on to Phase II in 2013, which will include a pavilion and restrooms.
