I probably won't see the official schedule until about 5PM on Friday, Nov. 2nd. But if past years is any guide, it might go something like this. However the last two years the event was way over subscribed! So stay flexible.
Past years: Saturday 7:30AM - Ohio Invite - warm-up 8:15AM - Ohio Invite - races late morning - A Cup -warm-up Noon - A Cup -races Afternoon - Ohio Invite & more A Cup races 3:30PM - last of the Ohio Invite races 7:30PM - end of A Cup races
Sunday 7:30AM - A Cup - warm-up 8:15AM - A Cup - heat 8:45AM - Ohio Invite - warm-up 9:30AM - A Cup & Ohio Invite - races 3:00PM - last A Cup race 6:00PM - last Ohio Invite race
Remember that this is just a guesstimate.

Hi, sailboater - I just found out that a skater who's coming to AmCup1 has some unexpected logistical problems. Would it be okay if I email you with the details, just in case somebody might be willing to help him out?
(Don't post your email here - just email me at lori@rocker-u.net, and I'll reply.)

I'm hearing that the Cleveland area is being affected by Frankenstorm as it heads east.
Is this impacting American Cup 1 and the skaters' ability to get there?

I just received this message:
Good evening,
Due to this week's weather conditions, the electricity at the Cleveland Heights Community Center Ice Rink went out at midnight last night and we do not know when it will be restored . As of this evening, the ice is not in good shape. Power will need to be restored by early tomorrow in order for there to be racing this weekend. We will make the decision about whether or not to cancel or postpone the competition by tomorrow (Thursday) at lunch time, and will notify all US Speedskating members immediately.
The practice sessions that were scheduled for tomorrow in Cleveland are cancelled. Please do not go to the rink in Cleveland tomorrow.
I apologize for the inconvenience and uncertainty. We will notify everyone as soon as a decision has been made. Thank you for your patience.
Chris Weaver US Speedskating

Cleveland Weather
Cleveland has had a significant weather week! Starting last Friday afternoon, we have had constant wind & rain. The first three days were just Fall system weather. Sandy's land-fall was 400 miles to the East. But Monday we got caught between a rock and a hard place. With a high pressure system stuck to the West and the very low pressure Sandy to the East, the 3 day's of high winds (30 MPH) increased to over 40 MPH with gusts of 60/70 MPH. So the wind Monday evening took down countless trees along the shoreline, causing many power outages. As of Wednesday afternoon 160,000 people still are without power. Across the street from me, a 3 foot dia. tree fell taking with it the 8000 Volt power line. About 20 homes still have no power from just that tree. "Trick or Treat has been postponed to the weekend. In Lakewood alone (Winterhurst Ice Rink) 20% of the homes are without power. Most schools are closed because it's not safe for the kids to walk with all the fallen wires and trees. Also in the last five days we have received 5 to 7 inches of rain. Most of the rivers have flooded. Many of the boats still in the water at the lake-front marinas were damaged or sunk. Ask Ian about boats some with docks attached floating by his house.
As to Cleveland Heights, the host hotel and the Interstates, most of these are not near the lake-front or near river bottoms so I was surprised to read that the rink lost power! The power outage two years ago was for an area wide equipment problem not do to the weather.
