I recently heard that Junior US Championships will NOT be held in Pittsburgh on Jan 27-29, 2012.
Location (and possibly dates) are pending, but a decision should be made soon.

They found an alternate venue! Just this afternoon, USS announced: ST Junior Nationals Update: We are pleased to announce that Juniors will now be held in the Washington D.C. area at the Prince William Ice Center in Dale City, VA January 27-29. More information coming soon. Thanks for your patience while we secured a new venue. We look forward to seeing athletes, families and friends in Dale City next month.'Looks like the dates will be the same, just a venue change. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I saw somewhere that this is the replacement facility for the one that collapsed in Feb 2010 at AmCup 3:therockerforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=20092010&action=display&thread=538If so, 'way to go, Dale City, in getting back in business so soon after your 2010 misfortune - and for stepping up on short notice to host this meet! Not sure what this will mean for any who have already booked flights to Pittsburgh. It's about a 5-hour drive from Pittsburgh to Dale City - but I suppose it's better than driving to Milwaukee or SLC! Hopefully the airlines will be kind...

They're doing the Ladies Time Trials now - they're not announcing times, so we may have to wait till it's all over to see who advances. The Top 16 will compete in Group 1, and those are the only ones who have a shot to go to Worlds. I had been wondering why Thomas Hong wasn't competing, but it looks like he missed the age cutoff for Group 1 by just a day or two...

The Top 4 after Day 2 (Time Trials, 1500M and 500M):
LADIES 1) Sarah Chen 2) Sally Chea 3) Kendal Pumphrey 4) Jacqueline Chen
MEN 1) John-Henry Krueger 2) James Rodowsky 3) Adam Callister 4) Claude Gilbert
Sadly, there were two skaters who had to be transported today. Harrison Sincavage was the scariest. He was face-down and not moving when the paramedics got to him - word is that he's gonna be okay, but they're running some tests. The other one was a girl - Abigail? She went in feet first and messed up a knee, I think...

Here's your Junior National team, headin' Down Under next month!
LADIES 1) Sarah Chen - Jr. National Champion (her first) 2) Sally (Yoo Young) Chea 3) Kendal Pumphrey 4) Jacqueline Chen
MEN 1) John-Henry Krueger - Jr. National Champion (his second) 2) Claude Gilbert 3) James Rodowsky 4) Adam Callister
Top 3 skate individual events - 4th skater participates in the relay.
Two years ago, Sarah and John-Henry were the 4th-place skaters on the Jr. team - today they became champions (John-Henry for the second time), and they have both competed in World Cups with the Senior National Team.
Enjoy OZ, all!

A few personal notes - we're thankful that John-Henry Krueger was able to compete in this event. As a member of the National Team, he's truly 'burning the candle at both ends'.
The National team has already arrived in Moscow for World Cup 5 - at the end of this competition, JH hot-footed it out of town to join them!
On his return from WC's 5 & 6, he'll be jettin' off to Australia for Jr. Worlds, then (possibly, if selected) a return trip to Shanghai for the World Championships. Busy guy!
Sarah Chen had a significant ankle injury at US Championships (just about 3 weeks ago) - so much so that she did not compete further and did not make the World Cup team as a result.
You'd never have guessed it from her FLAWLESS performance this weekend! However, when she had the Jr. US Championship 'locked up', she elected to not skate the 1500M Superfinal to give that ankle a rest... good call!
Another personal story: Kendal Pumphrey lost her grandfather on Friday, and was competing with a heavy heart. She was skating in his memory, and we're so proud that she succeeded, and will be competing in all the individual events in Australia. He was surely the 'angel on your shoulder', m'dear!
