Here’s a little recap of Day 2 racing: J.R. fell in the last lap of his 1500M(1) Semifinal during a pass by the Russian skater Semen Elistratov - the replay showed no contact, it appears that the ice just broke under J.R. He looked to be okay when he got up. In Heat 2 of the Men’s 1500M(1) Semis, Flou Tremblay received a PEN in a dust-up that took both him and European Champion Sjinkie Knegt down. Knegt got a cut in the back of the head, leaving blood on the ice, so the officials stopped the race. Knegt was a DNF, and was shown at rinkside later with his head wrapped in some significant bandages - looked like he had a turban on! In the Men’s 1500M(1) A Final, Korea’s Lee Jung-Su went out like a rabbit and John-Henry followed him. They both eventually caught up to the pack. It was difficult to tell who was who at that point because it seemed that the cameraman was getting confused about who to follow. I’m thinking that Lee kept going and lapped the pack, but I think JH stayed behind and drafted off them for the remainder of the race. I just don’t remember how it finished, but John-Henry won his first-ever medal in world competition! In the Ladies 1000M A Final, Lana was working hard to pass Yui Sakai (JPN) in the final lap - and finally succeeded, finishing third. However, she received a penalty instead of a bronze medal. In the Ladies Relay semifinal, Team USA (Gehring, Smith, Scott, Dudek) narrowly beat Japan to qualify for tonight’s A Final - good job, ladies! Tags: J.R. Celski / Francois-Louis Tremblay / Yui Sakai / Jessica Smith / Emily Scott / Lana Gehring / Alyson Dudek / Sjinkie Knegt / John-Henry Krueger / Noh Jinkyu / Semen Elistratov / Short Track Speedskating

OK, crashed and burned within an hour of the rep. last night. I don't know what's with me lately, I feel like I have narcolepsy. Contemplating beaucoup cups of major high octane, rocket fuel like highly caffeinated beverages... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...I'll try again tonight...

Okay, the blinking numbers have been very unsatisfying - Tamara's race stopped at lap 3. Happy to see that she advanced!
