Archived Announcements:September 15, 2009:I'm amazed at the number of people who checked in here during the Olympic Trials. On Friday evening, the 11th, we had: 2 Staff - 10 Members - 123 Guests, for a total of 135 visitors in a 24-hour period. I don't know how that compares to other ST sites, but it more than doubled our record of 65 that we set less than a week earlier on September 5... The increase in visitors brings about an adjustment period here at BB - it's been quite a job researching and posting items of interest. I have to admit - burnout is looming, so please, post any news/photos that you run across or send them via PM to us privately - or via e-mail at: Lori@rocker-u.net Michelle@therockerfund.org I want to applaude those of you who are already doing so - you have my undying gratitude - you know who you are! ------------------------------------------------ September 7, 2009:If you're not attending Trials and want to follow the event: Go to Rocker-U: www.rocker-u.net/us_champs.htmScroll down to 'MEDIA LINKS' Keep checking all of these links and you should get a pretty good idea of what's going on this week! Also, assuming that I was somewhere in the 'ballpark' with my understanding of the Olympic Team Selection Process ( therockerforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trips&action=display&thread=411 ), you might have some fun following along with that...

Hot TopicHey, I just noticed - we now have our board's very first 'Hot Topic' - the Olympic Trials thread! Note the burning folder icon to the left of the topic title, meaning that the topic has had at least 100 posts.EDIT: Oops! The Canadian Trials thread hit the 'Hot Topic' threshhold first! - go figure!

Hi, everyone - I'm boarding a plane tomorrow morning (Thursday) for Chiang Mai, Thailand to participate in a Habitat for Humanity build, and I won't be back 'till November 25. I realize that this is a very inopportune time to be MIA - this coming weekend in Marquette is critical for our team, and I still have photos and stories from Montreal to post. However, Travel Tourette's has set in and I'm stressin', so I'm going to sign off for now. I'm thrilled that so many of you have begun posting photos, links and news - keep it up, and I'll catch up with y'all when I get back! I've been advised to leave my computer at home, so I don't know what my internet access will be - but I'll check in here and follow the action in Marquette as much as possible. Bye for now, Lori

Hi! I'm back from Thailand, and still in a state of Nirvana from the experience (with a healthy dose of jet lag mixed in)...
I'm trying to gear up for Thanksgiving, catching up on e-mails, PM's, etc, - and figuring out where I left off when I departed a couple of weeks ago.
I'll also be trying to catch up on all the ST news since I left, so keep checking in! ;D

EMOTIES RUN AMOK!!!
I don't know what happened whilst I was gone, but the 'custom' emoties seem to have broken through the barn door and wandered where they pleased. I think I got 'em herded back to where they belong - please let me know if you're still having problems...
ALSO: A reminder - if the current time here in Proboards is not correct since the October time change, do the following:
Go to your Profile - click Modify Profile - scroll down to Dates and Times - click 'NO' under "Currently Observing DST". When you Save the changes, your homepage and all posts should display the correct time. (While you're at it, make sure your Time Zone is correct!)

Some have been asking how it's decided which skaters get threads here at BB, so here's the process:
The Starting Lineup: Skaters who are on the current Senior National Team - traveling to World Cups, World Championships, Olympic Games, etc. This lineup will change whenever a 'selection competition' takes place. Substitutes who fill in for skaters who aren't competing (injury, etc) will also be included in this group.
The Varsity: Any active skater who is not in the current 'Starting Lineup', but who has been on the Senior National Team at any time in the past. This group also includes past and current members of our Junior National Team.
The Junior Varsity: Active skaters who have not yet met the criteria for The Starting Lineup or The Varsity, but who have at any time in the past achieved Category 1 status.
The Farm Team: A skater who has not met any of the above criteria, but who has ever done any of the following: A) Competed in Group 1 at any American Cup event; B) Participated in the Senior US Championships; or C) Medaled in any event at the Junior US Championships or North American Championships
The Hall of Fame and Alumni Association: Skaters who are known to have stopped skating, or who have not competed in an American Cup-or-higher event in more than one year will be moved to one of these threads. The Hall of Fame board is for former Olympians - the Alumni Association is for all others.
If you're aware of any active skater who has been placed in the wrong group, or who should be included on BB, please let us know!

Hi, all - I'm in New Orleans for the weekend to attend the Endymion Mardi Gras ball and reconnect with family members and old friends. An inopportune weekend to be gone, to be sure - I won't even see any Olympics coverage until I get home on Monday (if my DVR hasn't exploded by then). But I'm having a great time! I'm checking in frequently, but I haven't had the time to post - thanks Gasp, for all the news contributions you've made in my absence. It's good to recharge my batteries now and then, and when I get back I'll be anxious to catch up on all the news!

I'm baaaaack - but not quite 'in the saddle again'... my first order of business is clearing my DVR of all the Olympic programs I recorded in my absence. I see that LOTS of people have been visiting - keep checking in, 'cause when I whittle my DVR down to size I'm gonna start wading through the 1000+ Google Alerts in my inbox. Lots of good stuff there!

Woo Hoo! As of this very moment, we set a record for visitors in a 24-hour period (2 Staff - 2 Members - 136 Guests = 140)
EDIT: Still the same day, and we broke the record again... (2 Staff - 2 Members - 154 Guests = 158)

...and yet another record! 2 Staff, 2 Members and 171 Guests = 175!
And after more than a year, we finally set a new record of people online at one time! (I was beginning to think that stat counter was malfunctioning...)

Just a reminder - in order to have the correct time displayed here (for when posts are made, messages sent/received, etc), you need to change your BB clock to reflect that we're now observing Daylight Savings Time.
Here's how:
1) You must be logged in (otherwise the time shown is Proboards' default time zone)
2) At the top of the page, click 'Profile'
3) When you get to your Profile, click 'Modify Profile'
4) Scroll down to the section 'Dates and Times'
5) Adjust the Time to your Time Zone
6) Answer YES to the question 'Currently Observing Daylight Savings Time?'
7) Scroll down, click 'Modify Profile', and you're done!

Things have settled down in the last 24 hours, but my eyes are still bugging out over the stats that BB has seen over the last few days.
We set a new record!
Active Users in the Past 24 Hours: 317 (up from 187)
We had a lively chat going on during World Championships - and I didn't have to talk to myself... Thank you to the 'regulars', and WELCOME to the new members who participated!
We'll end the USA 2009-2010 Season tonight at 5am Eastern, 2am Pacific as we chat about the final day of the World Championships - join us!
