So I'm listening to 'Man vs Food' while I clean out and archive photo files on my computer....(actually, I'm just waiting for Anthony Bordain to come on...LOL) ....I just don't get the whole glutony thing. Isn't that one of the 7 deadly sins?

...oops! Got on my little figure skating essay, and forgot all about what I originally logged on for in the first place! 'sometimers' strikes again! It's amazing what you find when you're cleaning out files. This little gem was from a company I worked for right out of college. "This is the place where brilliant minds assemble to willfully pool ignorance with questionable logic in order to reach stupid conclusions." (and the argument could be made that this is the motto of most corporations...LOL)

Speaking of corporations, consider this if you are job hunting:
February 01, 2010 Rate Your Candidacy: How Good Are You? Imagine you're a tennis pro getting ready for your next important match. Are you better than Roger Federer?
Maybe tennis isn’t your thing. Let’s move to a swimming pool, then. Are you better than Michael Phelps?
How about a mountain? A skating rink. A luge course. Are you better than the Olympians headed for Vancouver?
Hours and hours of behind-the-scenes work is what turns naturally talented athletes like these into champions. There’s nothing casual about it. Winning doesn’t come without a lot of training and practice.
Serious athletes don't go into competition unprepared, no matter how accomplished they are. These people spend months - years - perfecting their skills. They may have a lot of hardware back home in the trophy case, but still they train. And of course you would, too.
Behind-the-scenes work is also a key component of the “contest” known as the hiring process.
To win consistently, you’ve got to invest in some serious preparation. You've got to "train" just like Federer and Phelps and speed skater Apolo Ohno.
Yet many candidates think they can breeze into job interviews, making it up on the fly, and walk away with offers. 15 minutes on the warmup court and they're good to go.
The worst offenders are typically those whose natural talent leads to overconfidence. (Who needs to prep? This thing is a done deal. All I have to do is show up. The job’s mine.)
While you may be able to ride your own coat tails to some extent, charisma will only carry you so far. It’s pretty rare to build a consistent winning streak based solely on your high-wattage-smile and ability to ad lib.
Federer won his 16th Grand Slam title in Australia yesterday – but he’ll be out on the practice courts next week with his hitting partner.
You are not better than Roger Federer (APOLO OHNO--added by me--heehee)
Take a page from APOLO's playbook. Practice time behind-the-scenes will elevate your good game to a thing of greatness.

It is good to be a woman: 1. We got off the Titanic first. 2. We can scare male bosses with the mysterious gynecological disorder excuses. 3. Taxis stop for us. 4. We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing. 5. No fashion faux pas we make, could ever rival the Speedo. 6. We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves. 7. If we forget to shave, no one has to know. 8. We can congratulate our teammate without ever touching her rear end. 9. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there.. 10. We have the ability to dress ourselves. 11. We can talk to the opposite sex without having to picture them naked. 12. If we marry someone 20 years younger, we are aware that we will look like an idiot. 13. We will never regret piercing our ears. 14. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems. 15. We can make comments about how silly men are in their presence because they aren't listening anyway.

Is it just me? ...or do those constantly playing JG Wentworth 'full on noise assault for the (apparently) hearing impaired' commercials with a plethora of people opening their windows and shouting at the top of their lungs 'IT'S MY MONEY, AND I NEED IT NOW!!!' for a minute and a half instill in you the intense desire to hurl a flame thrower at the TV? ...and/or possibly jam one up JG Wentworth himself? To JG Wentworth: IT'S MY HOME! AND I NEED YOU TO SHUT THE @#$% UP NOW!!! I'd sooner sign up for eye surgery from Jack the Ripper wielding a weed whacker than reward your company and your obnoxious commercials with my business, even if I did have a legal settlement or an annuity... ...but here's what I really want to know. What completely zero talent, low life mental deficient got paid perfectly good US dollars to come up with that? Give those boys a flaming enema too while we're at it!

I know not of what you speak...
But if I ever see a commercial with someone rolling down his/her car window, I'll grab the remote control and hit the 'mute' button, 'cause it sounds painful!

Well, here ya go... (Why should I be the only one experiencing the sheer fun, thrill and enjoyment...) (and realize, this is the SHORTENED version!) ...and I must not be the only one annoyed by these commercials, 'cause look what I just found: and... ...and there's a boatload more where those came from! LOL

Hey everyone! Help my friend win the 'Fat Banker' Challenge! Go to the following link and vote for Michael Leader by 3pm on Friday, Oct 14. news.hereisthecity.com/news/business_news/11576.cntnsHere's the scoop from Michael: As much as this hurts me to admit, I've entered into a vote off for a contest being run through a London site called HERE IS THE CITY (www.hereisthecity.com <http://www.hereisthecity.com/> ) called XL Factor - The 'Fat Banker' Challenge The contest pits two City bankers head-to-head in a challenge to see who can become the fittest over an 8 week period, starting October 25th. In order to get to be one of those two people, I need to try and garner as many votes as possible to fight off 20 other contestants. If selected, I will start an 8-week training and diet plan care of Matt Roberts Personal Training and the progress will be tracked on the website. Also, as part of the challenge, I will be raising money for ACT (www.act.org.uk <http://www.act.org.uk/> ), a UK wide charity working to achieve the best possible quality of life and care for every child and young person who is not expected to reach adulthood. So please click through the link below to vote for me and feel free to forward to anyone that you think needs a good laugh! news.hereisthecity.com/news/business_news/11576.cntnsThanks for your time and support...looking forward to the results! Cheers, Mike

Thanks everyone who voted. Michael went from 10th to 3rd in less than 24 hours because of all of you! We don't know what the final tally was, but hopefully it's updated in the morning that he made it into 2nd place. Fingers crossed ...and thanks again for the support!
