MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE QP Thanks, QP, and the same to you and yours! A very Merry Christmas to all of my skating 'family'! I'm taking the day off - gonna stop by the tree to see what Santa had in mind for us, take a Christmas drive, then our traditional Benihana dinner tonight... ...back in the saddle tomorrow - enjoy the day everyone!

(oops, needed to adjust the original post a bit to be accurate...) OK, I need to take a poll here... You have a 'friend' who makes plans, and 99.99 percent of the time bails at the last minute. check one: ______ not rude ______ rude Most of the time you don't even get the courtesy of a phone call to let you know they aren't showing up. (including your 50th birthday) ______ not rude ______ rude You're down on your luck and looking for work in their area, and said 'friend' invites you to move in with them. You are charged $200 a month for 'your share' of the groceries (YIKES! $200/mo for a single person? I could drown myself in haagan daz for that kinda coin!) but you do it anyway. They don't actually BUY groceries. You go out and purchase groceries, they eat yours. _______ not rude _______ rude You blast through $300 in less than two weeks feeding them. They have their hand out for more money. You are upset. They are indignant. "It costs a lot of money to feed this family" you are told. "Yeah, but I wasn't made aware that I would be the one feeding them all, including your kids and grandkids that don't actually live here" you retort. _______ I'm the a**hole _______ They're off their nut about a mile and a half You continue to pay them $200 a month for groceries. You continue to buy your own food. Said 'friend' has a diet that consists of coffee, wine and chain-smoking. You do not. You actually try to eat healthy. You endure a 2 year old, stomp through the house, abusive temper tantrum every time you use the kitchen to feed yourself, even though you are using it when no one else is cooking. AND you make meals not only for yourself, but for everyone. You leave the kitchen cleaner than you found it when you're done. _______ I'm invading someone's 'space' _______ This takes some real brass cajones You catch them talking about you when they think you're not around. What would they prefer? - not have someone living in their space - or do they just want the money? They decide to do both. Take your money, and then make it so miserable to be there that you make yourself scarce or hide in your room whenever possible. _______ helping out a friend _______ just helping themselves You have had enough. You move out. You are informed it's your fault if you're unhappy there, no one asked you to leave. _______ I'm still the a**hole _______ I need to adjust my radar and choose better friends. ...I have a pretty good idea what the correct answers are. (and if you chose the first answer every time, please, by all means, stay away from me) Sorry, I just needed a place to 'vent'... Here's to BETTER things, and BETTER people!

Hey guys--one of our posters here at Boots 'n Blades will be sitting on pins and needles tonight as the new FX drama, Lights Out, premieres. Here's a review of the show from the New York Times: tv.nytimes.com/2011/01/11/arts/television/11lights.htmlOur poster's daughter has been nominated 3 times for an Emmy due to her wonderful writing skills for a little show called Mad Men. She has now moved on to this new project. The industry is "abuzz" about the show. So watch it live or DVR and watch at your convenience. Good luck to everyone connected with the show!

I KNEW IT!!! And now I have proof! LOL. There's a 'real' designer behind the scenes doing all the heavy lifting, so to speak - and the 'designer' in front of the camera is just eye candy! INTERIOR DESIGNER NEEDED FOR KITCHEN MAKEOVER SHOW **Must live in or under an hour away from Los Angeles, Burbank, Covina or Carson
Established television production company is looking to hire a local Interior Designer with demonstrated kitchen remodeling experience to work behind the scenes on a kitchen makeover show. Person will create the initial design for one episode and work with corporate sponsor, network and on-camera Designer to modify and finalize plan. Then, he/she will oversee the execution of design. Time commitment will be on and off over the course of approximately one month with the final install - demo to completion - taking place over 5 consecutive days.
In addition to extensive kitchen design experience, candidate must also be able to meet tight deadlines, work well in a collaborative environment, and get along with all types of personalities. Reliable contractor connections in your area are a MUST.
Please note: this is NOT and on-camera position.

Oh, I'm so sorry, Dose! Are you talking about the Chinese forum that you belong to? That's frustrating!

So, I have a confession to make. After a long, hard day at the office, sometimes I come home and read the latest tidbits of news and info that pop up on my yahoo home page. If I'm reeeaaalllly looking for some insight... or a super cheap source of entertainment, sometimes I read the comments too. For the following comments left by a poster, I'm not sure whether to be incensed or just laugh my a$$ off. Hey "see the light" Do you haev the skills and educational qualification that the asians and Indian engineers have??? I am sure you don't. That is ONE of the biggest problems in USA it is a country of hig schoolers not too many people collegue educated, because education here is luxury, while on Asia education is cheaper and reachable for the common people that is why you see a lot of Indians that live in poverty there with Masters and PH degrees!!!!! USA is wrong!! the americans citizens need higher level education! What IS this person smoking??? A nation of 'hig schoolers' and not too many people college educated? I think this person REALLY needs to stop drinking the 'lil abner, Dukes of hazzard, gov't supported propoganda kool aid" and get a grip on reality. I'm SURROUNDED by people with a college education! But hey, let 'em keep thinking that. It's ever such sporting good fun when they get broadsided by their own 'We be rednecks' mentality...

I hadn't heard of him before, either - I saw him on the first DWTS show (that's the only one I watched), and he just had 'something about him' that made me ask my sports-fan hubby about him. Larry confirmed my first impressions of him! He's dancing well, too, isn't he?

As I watched Hines Ward on the first episode... I didn't know anything about him either. But as I watched him... I kept looking at him, thinking there is something different about him. So then Sam showed me an article in our paper... the fact that he is part-Korean. That was it... there was something in his expressions (eyes) that I couldn't pin-point... LOL! Very interesting story!
