Back in January 2011, this was the exchange on the 'Future Stars' thread about Aaron: You should do a page for Aaron Tran he is a short tracker and long track and won at the short and long track nationals! Welcome to the board! I remember Aaron - I saw him skate last year in Wausau. Very impressive! We generally wait till a skater has competed in an American Cup before starting a separate thread - but please feel free to post info on Aaron here at any time. If and when he gets his own thread, it'll give us a nice 'base' of news about him. The time has come! - and let me say, Aaron has absolutely beautiful technique. Aaron skated in the US Single-Distance Championships in Salt Lake City (Sept 27-30, 2012). Here are his results: 19th Overall 9-Lap Time Trial - 17th 4-Lap Time Trial - 21st 1500M(1) – 5th (B Final) 500M(1) - 3rd (Repechage Quarterfinal) 1000M(1) – 2nd (Repechage Semifinal) 1500M(2) - 2nd (C Final) 500M(2) – 4th (Repechage Semifinal) 1000M(2) – 3rd (Repechage Semifinal) Aaron in the lead at USSDC in Salt Lake City. TRAN, Aaron - Aaron was 21st in the 9LTT and did not qualify to continue in the competition. He moved to the Desert Classic event, where his points put him in 5th overall (however, it doesn’t look like he skated the last 2 distances). This is just way cool - way, WAY cool! Congrats Aaron Tran, and what a great idea from TD Ameritrade!!! Local Olympic hopeful to shadow Federal Way's Celski at Winter OlympicsTodd Beamer High School student Aaron Tran will attend the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, to shadow fellow Federal Way native J.R. Celski as a short track speedskater. by CASEY OLSON, Federal Way Mirror Sports editor / January 30, 2014 Tran was selected by TD Ameritrade to represent the company's core values at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, with the hopes that he will represent the United States at the next Winter Olympics in 2018.
"I'm not really sure how they chose me," Tran said with a laugh. "But I'm glad they did."
Ameritrade interviewed many former Olympians, who said that their first trips to the Games were very stressful. The investment company wanted to invest in Olympic hopefuls, so when they go to future Games, they are more comfortable and could perform at their best.Read it all: www.federalwaymirror.com/sports/242780151.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+fwmall+%28All+Stories+-+Federal+Way+Mirror%29
