What was the personal observation, do you remember? Did it also have to do with his being 'urban'?

Don't forget to DVR Colbert Repor starting Monday. Katherine Reutter is taping for the show. Don't have a concrete date as to when it will broadcast, but I'm hoping Monday.

WILL DO, Gasp - I have it on Series DVR, and check it most nights.Ruff/Mtnme: Color me Stupid, but I have to admit I don't know what the h*** you're talking about. I don't see that she has even logged on here since July. But nevermind, it seems that the post in question is this: she had a personal observation on what went down in 2006. I knew there was acrimony between USS and Shani, and it involved lawyers, but I didn't know what the particulars were. From what I gather from the post, Shani covered up the USS sponsor's logo on his skinsuit in 2006, photos were taken and then disseminated all over the world. The sponsor saw them, pulled their support, and hit USS with a lawsuit. The gist was the lawsuit cost USS a pretty penny. I consider myself a Shani fan, and will continue to be - but Good, Bad or Ugly, the above observation totally jives with how I heard it at the time - from what I recall, that story was reported from as many reputable news agencies as the current "Colbert is a Jerk" story. I really wanna believe in the 'kindler, gentler' Shani, as reported in a recent article about him changing his image - but there is evidence to give even the staunchest fan pause... Lately, I'm much more inclined to believe in reports of the 'kindler, gentler' Chad Hedrick, whom I had originally considered to be the villain in the 2006 Hedrick/Davis Olympic feud...

Ruff, I do recall the urban thing about Shani, but I don't think it was for that post. I think the personal observation comments were more along the line of Shani still sporting a belligerant attitude instead of the 'kinder, gentler, Shani' we were all hoping for. ...but I don't remember exactly now since I've read so many other comments and can't quite reconstruct what I saw where... I have 'sometimers'. Lori, the original comments were on GA not here and thoughts about it somehow drifted over here....ummmm, possibly 'cause ruff has been dubbed 'persona non gratis' there? (sorry ruff, but ya know it's true....) ;D

Hey, thanks for posting the SI cover, Ruff - I saw it on the show last night and I wasn't sure if it was real, but apparently so!

It's not in the stores yet (I checked). Those are some pretty wussy thin thighs he's sportin' there though...

As rinkydink noted on her GA post, I think we saw a glimpse of the real Stephen Colbert. He seemed surprised, then shocked, then embarassed. It was noted even his laugh changed and he apologized to his wife too.
Wonder if Katherine was looking over at her mom and dad when he first started signing her thigh? They were either "in" on the joke or were sitting there with mouths agape!

...so it was an unplanned moment!
Perhaps the most unusual moment of show came when Olympic Speed Skater Kathrine Reutter asked Colbert to sign her thigh." "He hasn't mocked the athletes, except a little bit for having "billboard thighs" (practically a compliment) and wearing Lycra -- hardly damaging to the team's image. Reutter even asked Colbert to sign her billboard thigh at the end of the segment - which was entirely her idea, and seemed to catch him off guard. Colbert might not be saving the Olympics, but he's certainly not destroying them, either," NBC Olympics goes on to report.

per Jordan Malone's FB--Colbert & Shani raced one another at the Olympic Oval. Can't wait to see if Colbert makes the long track team. LOL

Ruff is lying as Lori accurately noted. I never made the statement she attributes to me. Nor will I wallow in that ditch of libel.

Well, to be accurate, I didn't accuse anyone of lying... I assumed it was something posted here, and I was confused because I couldn't find it - but it was actually referring to a comment that was posted on the GA forum.
