Just to let y'all know what I'm going to be working on over the next few weeks:
1) I've gotten US Championships results up for the skaters in The Starting Lineup, but I plan to update the individual threads of all the other current BB skaters with their personal results (and photos, if available) from USC.
2) I still need to do a results summary for Jr. US Championships, along with updates to the skaters' individual threads (with photos, when available).
3) When World Cups 5 & 6 are over, I'll be doing the same results summaries and individual threads updates.
...and HOPEFULLY, I'll be caught up with all this before AmCup3 (Feb 18-19) and Jr. World Championships (Feb 24-26).
Please keep checking back on your favorite skaters, 'cause this is gonna be a 'Fast & Furious' month, with major competitions EVERY weekend - and I'll eventually get all these things posted!
If you see any significant articles, videos, etc., that I've missed - please feel free to post them. Don't worry about posting them in the wrong place - I'll copy them to other threads if necessary.
If you're shy, you can always email them to me at lori@rocker-u.net - I'd be most grateful!

Members: After the time change on Sunday, your clock here at BB may not be correct (it doesn't automatically adjust). You have to go to your profile and answer 'yes' to the question "Are you currently observing Daylight Savings Time (summer)?"
The default for those who are not logged in is the Central Time Zone.

Stay tuned... hopefully I'll have some time - soon - to start posting results on each skater's individual threads (with photos, if available) for 1) Jr. World Championships; 2) World Championships; 3) American Cup Final; and 4) National Age Group Championships.

To all appearances tonight, our forum was GONE. All you could see was a bunch of 'goose eggs' where our threads once were. Kudos to ProBoards for finding and fixing the problem within an hour and a half, with NO loss of data - for our forum, and the hundreds of others that were affected. The handful of professional admins at Proboards and the couple-handfuls of their underlings handled the disconcerting situation brilliantly. (Don't we all wish that Facebook had such a user-friendly means of support?... )

Good news! Proboards has entered the next phase of testing for the new format (it will be released later this year, and all forums will be converted). Up 'till now, they were in Closed Beta Testing - I was invited to be one of the 'testers', and I'm really excited about the changes! Now they are in Open Beta Testing, which brings us even closer to our new-and-improved board! Here's what Proboards had to say about the upcoming changes: (Version) V5 offers a look at the future of online forums and is a huge departure from the static engagement style of current message board technology. With the copious integration of AJAX technology, interactivity is now the magic word.
The true focus of V5 is to bring people closer together by simplifying the user experience and enabling more personalized and meaningful interactions. To that end, V5 is the marriage of discussion forums and social media at their highest levels.(underline/bold added by me!) ------------------------------------- Also, a couple of months ago, Proboards started offering a mobile app that looks really interesting - sorry I didn't get the link up sooner: www.proboards.com/mobileFor those of you who haven’t already downloaded the ProBoards Mobile Forum App for your iPhone or Android, now you can access your favorite forums, share on the go and stay connected to the latest developments…wherever you are! •See who’s online •Read topics •Create and reply to topics •Send personal messages •Upload images •Browse individual boards •Bookmark topics for later viewing

Some new features of the upcoming Proboards forum improvements: - 'Like' Button
- Notifications to your email when there are updates to your favorite threads
- The ability to send PM's (Personal Messages) to multiple recipients
I'll post others features over the coming months...

I've decided to stop moving skaters' threads around so much! Inactive/Active; To/From Long Track, etc... Over the next few weeks, I'll be eliminating the Alumni Association board - we'll put those skater threads back on whatever Active board represents the highest level they've achieved, and they will remain there.
The Hall of Fame (Olympians) Board will be added to the Active Boards, and we'll continue to move skaters 'up' the boards as they progress in their careers.
Naturally, as we add new skaters to the forum, the threads for skaters who have been Inactive for the longest period of time will drop to Page 2 (but that would have happened eventually on the Alumni Association Boards as well).
Hopefully, once all the final moves have been made, this will eliminate some confusion, 'tighten up' the forum overall - and save me some work in the long run!

I've added new threads on The Rest of the Short Track World board to include ALL countries who competed at World Cups and/or World Championships this year, so that we can (hopefully) get more familiar with skaters from around the world as the 2014 Olympics approach.
If you see any news about skaters from these countries, please share it with us!

Watch the 'counter' at the bottom of the page - sometime tonight or early tomorrow, we'll be rolling over the 200,000-visitor mark! Who will be the one that puts us over the top?

We set a new record today of 69 visitors here at one time! The old record was 57, set in August, 2010.

Oh, wow - we set ANOTHER new record of 80 people on our forum at one time... it was on Oct 30, and I'm just now noticing it! That was the day that my husband broke his arm, so I suppose I was a bit distracted... Thanks, y'all!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I'll share my 4 requirements for evaluating the passing year: 1) I'm still above ground and breathing; 2) I've logged some memorable smiles in my mental 'file'; 3) I've learned from my mistakes and (hopefully) won't repeat them; and 4) I have every reason to believe that at the end of the coming year I'll be able to say the same... 'Wishing the same life, joy, learning and hope for each of you! (Side note: I've tried and tried to purchase my Ad-Free credits so that y'all won't have to deal with ProBoards banner ads for January, but the internet isn't co-operating - maybe tomorrow...)

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too, Lori! Haven't been here much due to family! They've all gone home... but now I'm having PC (my desktop) issues, so I'm having to resort to my 'webmail'! Not a good way to start the new year, for me, but I want to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR too!
